With in-person services and events resuming, please take a moment glance through our newsletter, The Meetinghouse, for the latest at First Church: https://bit.ly/3CY5Etn First Church is the oldest continuously operating Protestant congregation in the city of Los Angeles. We are traditional in our style of worship, but progressive and open when it comes to theological perspective. We're committed t

o practicing a faith that honors both the heart and the mind. In other words, all seekers are welcome, including those who might be recovering from a lousy experience with organized religion. We don't pressure people. Nor do we try to "cram religion down anyone's throat." In the true spirit of Jesus, we offer welcome, love and respect. While we take the Bible seriously at First Church, we don't necessarily take it literally. In other words, we try to interpret the scriptures in a way that make sense in our contemporary world.

This past Sunday, our youth led us into our summer series A Different Kind of Freedom by reminding us that the divine sees and loves us as we are. They did this through sharing their confidence, power, strength, talents, intellect, courage, and love through their singing, reading, playing, and extraordinary poise on the chancel. Through our Youth we reconnect with that powerful voice within that reminds us that we are enough! To watch the full service, visit our YouTube channel !

This past Sunday was PRIDE at the Cathedral and our children and youth helped the congregation celebrate by leading the celebratory flag processional parade down the center aisle! The children then created their own PRIDE RAINBOWS while the Youth spent some time in the PRIDE mirror, recognizing their divinity and their worthiness of love! They then engaged with I AM statements before playing CAPTURE THE PRIDE FLAG! This Sunday, the children and youth of First Kids First will lead the service! The youth have been rehearsing to lead all elements of the service including the music, the liturgy, and the prayer time. Join us in the sanctuary to celebrate the Youth and each of their unique individual lights as they help us to recognize The God Who Sees Us as we open our summer series A Different Kind of Freedom!
