Founded in 2017 by pastor, author, and evangelist Steve Cha, Grace City is a Bible teaching, gospel-centered, and evangelistically driven ministry which exists to effectively make Christian disciples of a new generation in Los Angeles. n a time when everyone wants to be innovative and groundbreaking. New church plants have ambitious goals such as "transforming the city," "renewing and bringing peace to the city," "being a radical church," and "helping people find their life's joy and purpose." Though we admire many of these ideas and goals, we do not strive to be innovative or culturally relevant. We do not claim to be the "next big thing" or promise to bring about city revivals or personal fulfillment like no other church can. Our priority is simple: To do church God's way by being faithful to God's Word. We believe that when this happens, genuine spirituality results. This leads to change not only in the church body, but in the city as well.
Grace City LA exists to carry out what we call the 3-P Focus:
P1: Proclaiming the Word
Teaching the inerrant, infallible Bible through verse-by-verse exposition that captures the truest meaning and application of Scripture. We focus on expository preaching that understands Scripture in context and leads us to a right understanding of its principles and how to apply that in our lives. This commitment to the magnificence and authority of Scripture is what shapes the church's theology, apologetics, counseling, evangelism, and philosophy of ministry. Right doctrine always produces the fruit of righteousness.
P2: Perfecting the Saints
Applying the word of God in discipleship. We teach, train, and exhort, which leads to maturity of character and service in the church. We focus on personal discipleship with the goal of producing witnesses of Christ who, in turn, become disciplemakers themselves and raise up the next generation of pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and servants who excel in the kingdom work. Reaching out to unbelievers with the gospel in the city through evangelism with the hopes of bringing them into saving relationship with Jesus Christ. We understand evangelism (not social justice or personal prosperity) as the mission of the church. We trust in the power of the gospel message to bring about eternal salvation and transformation in individuals in conjunction with God's historical-redemptive plan.
