As part of Jewish American Heritage Month and the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, this weekend marks Shabbat 250 — the first nationally designated Shabbat in the United States.
From sundown on Friday, May 15 through nightfall on Saturday, May 16, Jewish Americans — along with friends, families, and communities of every background — are invited to come together in the spirit of Shabbat to celebrate faith, heritage, unity, and the enduring connection between the Jewish people and America.
Jewish communities have been woven into the fabric of our nation since its founding, helping shape the story of America across generations. Shabbat 250 offers a meaningful opportunity to honor that shared history with gratitude, reflection, and togetherness.
We are excited to host a special Shabbat celebration at our Chabad in honor of Shabbat 250. We warmly invite you, your friends, and your family to join us for an inspiring and meaningful experience together as a community!
Ways to Participate in Shabbat 250:
Attend Shabbat services
Share a Shabbat meal with family and friends
Light Shabbat candles before sundown
Unplug by turning off your phone for 25 hours
Take a break from work and daily distractions
Enjoy a peaceful Shabbat walk
