(it was inspired by I Samuel 7:12) "Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mispeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying Hitherto Hath the Lord Helped Us"
The Ebenezer Baptist Church was founded as a Missionary Baptist Church on the first Sunday in September 1938. It was organized in November of the same year and the organizer, Reverend Cameron, was ordained and installed as
Pastor on May 4, 1939. Reverend Fletcher Cameron established a foundation of strong moral character and "Holiness" in all aspects of life. These principles continue to be the main focus of today's church. Through his vision and perseverance, the church was able to attain various properties adjacent to the primary church property. Various auxiliaries and personal acquaintances of Reverend Cameron’s, donated the stained glass windows in the sanctuary, which was also a part of his vision. Throughout it's existence, the church has involved itself with various community outreaches, i.e. serving food to the homeless, clothing give-a-ways, health seminars, and community rallies, all of which were at no cost to the community. After the demise of our founder, the church has been under the pasturage of Reverend Richard Mosley (1985-1990); Reverend Samuel Denard (1990- 1993); and presently Dr. Kenneth Little. Under their combined leadership, the membership has continued to deepen it's commitment to the faith and extend its outreach capacity to the community. It is the endeavor of the church to continue to render services that are uplifting both spiritually and naturally. Through prayer, fasting and the commitment to the Holiness on the part of its members; this goal will be obtained.
