I am delighted to announce the establishment of the South LA Nonprofit Apprenticeship Program. I worked hard to secure over $1 million to get this program off the ground, which benefits emerging Black and Brown leaders, aged 18-25, who are passionate about making a difference through service to their communities, all while in college.

The program is being driven in partnership between my Office, SLATE-Z, CDTech, Coalition for Responsible Community Development, Public Allies Los Angeles, YWCA Greater Los Angeles and AmeriCorps to offer a 10-month, full-time, paid apprenticeship that will help develop South Los Angeles young adults interested in exploring a career in the non-profit sector with the objective of sparking lasting change and uplifting underserved neighborhoods.

Apply NOW through Oct. 6 by visiting: https://publicallies.org/ally-application/ . See the flyer for more details. The program STARTS Monday, Oct. 25, 2021.

Our L.A. County budget should reflect our values.

That's why we support Measure J, a ballot initiative that would shift our budget away from policing to invest in mental health care, affordable housing, and jobs in low-income communities.

Yes on J November 3rd.

BECOH Supports Measure J.

Measure J would shift roughly $1 billion a year from policies that harm Black and Brown communities into programs that improve those same communities—health, housing, and jobs.

Measure J is how we begin to address the wrongs of racial injustice in L.A. County.

Yes on J this November.
