Last month’s Dharma message was:
“Hello, Baby.
I am your Mom. ♪
Namo Amida Butsu.”
Now it is June — Father’s Day month!
And in Japan, it is also the rainy season. ☔🐸
To all the fathers out there:
Thank you for carrying so many responsibilities and burdens every day.
When we think of rain, we often think of frogs.
So this month’s Dharma message is:
“Even dads are still growing…
Namo Amida Butsu.”
In Japanese, this message plays on the words “frog,” “renewal,” and “returning home.”
When illuminated by Amida Buddha’s light,
I am reminded that I am not living alone.
There is a compassionate presence that walks with me and carries my burdens alongside me.
The Nembutsu brings joy and reassurance to the heart.
We all have a place to return to.
And we all have opportunities to be renewed again and again.
Before Amida Buddha,
fathers, mothers, and all of us alike
are beings still growing and being nurtured,
just as we are.
Nembutsu brings joy to the heart.
Even dads are still growing…

This month’s bulletin board artwork is a collaboration between calligrapher Hiroko Nakahira and our Betsuin Facilities Manager, Thomas Mochizuki, who drew the frog illustration.
Both are also talented musicians and members of our band, ABA Sonics. 🎵 .n.21

先月の法語は、
「こんにちは赤ちゃん
私がママよ♪
南無阿弥陀仏」
でした。
さて、今月は父の日。
そして日本では梅雨の季節ですね☔🐸
世のお父さん方、
毎日たくさんの責任や重圧を背負いながら、本当にお疲れさまです。
雨といえばカエル。
そこで今月の法語は、
「父もまだまだ若ガエル
南無阿弥陀仏」
にしてみました。
阿弥陀さまの光に照らされたとき、
私は一人で生きているのではなかったことに気づかされます。
共に私の重荷を担い、
共に歩んでくださるはたらきがあった。
お念仏は、そんな安心と喜びを与えてくださいます。
私たちには、
本当に「カエル場所」があり、
何度でも「若ガエル喜び」がある。
阿弥陀さまの前では、
父も、母も、
そして私もまた、煩悩具足の身としてお育てにあずかる存在です。

ちなみに今回の作品は、書道家の中平宏子さんと、カエルのイラストを描いてくださった別院ファシリティマネージャーのトーマス望月さんとのコラボ作品です。
お二人は私たちのバンド「ABA Sonics」の仲間でもあります🎵
才能が集結した素晴らしい作品となりました。
