The Annual Interfaith Bible Lecture will be “Authorship and Authority of Scripture” 7:30 Sunday February 12, 2023 at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church 26438 Crenshaw Blvd. Rev. Reinhard Krauss, Director of the Academy for Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Studies and Rabbi Joel Rembaum, Retired, who enlightened us on “Jesus Through Christian and Jewish Lenses” last year are returning to compare and contrast Christian and Jewish views of their shared sacred scripture with Bob Rothman as moderator; the Hebrew Bible is integral to both Christianity and Judaism, but each approaches it differently which will make an informative and enriching evening of comparative religions. In some ways it is reminiscent of the statement Britain and the United States are two closely connected countries separated by a common language. Our lecture series kicks off tonight with a live stream from St. John Fisher! The live stream will begin shortly before 7:30 here on this page.
Tonight's panel discussion is titled "Atonement for Sin"
Panelists from different faiths will teach us how each of their faiths offers atonement. How does it depend on the severity of the sin? How much depends on the deeds and life led previously?
What does atonement offer the sinner? What authority does the clergy have? What happens to an unrepentant sinner?

“The Imperfect Families of Genesis” will open the Dawn Unity Group’s twentieth year at 7:30 pm Tuesday October 19 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 5448 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

The panel will discuss why are the founding patriarchs and matriarchs presented with their flaws as well as their piety? Bob Rothman, Dawn Unity Group Chair, will be the moderator. The event will be live streamed right here on Facebook and later be available on our YouTube channel.
