ST HANIBAL MARIA DI FRANCIA
(PRIEST AND FOUNDER)
Born in Messina (1851–1927), he was ordained a priest on March 16, 1878. He dedicated himself to the moral and spiritual redemption of the Avignone District and founded the Antonian Orphanages for girls and boys (1882–1883), as well as the religious Congregations of the Daughters of Divine Zeal (March 19, 1887) and the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (May 16, 1897). From his adolescence, he understood the necessity of prayer for vocations and worked tirelessly in every way to spread Jesus’ divine command: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:37–38; Lk 10:2). He is recognized as a true father of orphans and the poor, and as an authentic forerunner and zealous teacher of modern vocational ministry.
PRAYER
O God, hope of the humble, refuge of the poor, and father of orphans, you chose Saint Annibale Maria, priest, as an outstanding apostle of prayer for vocations. Through his intercession, send worthy laborers into your harvest, and grant that, inspired by his same spirit of charity, we may grow in love for you and for our neighbor. Through our Lord Jesus Christ.

SAN ANÍBAL MARÍA DI FRANCIA
(SACERDOTE Y FUNDADOR)
Nació en Messina (1851–1927) y fue ordenado sacerdote el 16 de marzo de 1878. Se dedicó a la redención moral y espiritual del Barrio Avignone y fundó los Orfanatos Antonianos femeninos y masculinos (1882–1883), así como las Congregaciones religiosas de las Hijas del Divino Celo (19 de marzo de 1887) y de los Rogacionistas del Corazón de Jesús (16 de mayo de 1897). Desde su adolescencia comprendió la necesidad de la oración por las vocaciones y se esforzó de todas las maneras posibles para difundir el divino mandato de Jesús: “La mies es mucha y los obreros pocos; rueguen, pues, al Dueño de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies” (Mt 9, 37–38; Lc 10, 2). Es reconocido como verdadero padre de los huérfanos y de los pobres, y auténtico precursor y celoso maestro de la moderna pastoral vocacional.
ORACIÓN
Oh Dios, esperanza de los humildes, refugio de los pobres y padre de los huérfanos, que quisiste escoger a san Aníbal María, sacerdote, como insigne apóstol de la oración por las vocaciones, por su intercesión envía dignos obreros a tu mies y haz que, movidos por su mismo espíritu de caridad, crezcamos en el amor hacia ti y hacia el prójimo. Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
