Nearly ten years ago, I went through my darkest hour. I came to a point in my life where I believed I had no purpose. Although singing has been my pas

sion since the age of three, even singing no longer brought me joy. It was then I picked up a paint brush and began painting, and I painted my way out of a depression. Shortly thereafter, I discovered my purpose through Jesus Christ. A friend of mine saw one of my paintings several years later and asked if I ever thought about teaching paint on canvas. That question led me to prayer where God revealed the concept for what makes Anew Artistry different. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Anew Artistry painting events are more than just a gathering. They are faith-based and character building. First of all, I come to you. You provide the space, seating, protective coverings (such as tablecloths if desired), beverages and/or food. This allows you control of the atmosphere. I bring all the art supplies and take care of the set up and break down. At the start, we open with prayer. Second, we enter into God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise by song, and then we get to painting. In my prayer time prior to the event, God gives me a message that coincides with the painting to share with the group. The messages are short teachings filled with hope and are meant to encourage you in your faith-walk. I've encountered many people who believe they cannot paint, but the end result is generally the same. He or she is surprised at their ability. With that said, these paint parties are perfect for beginners. Also, accommodations can be made for up to 40 people. This is a great way to spend time with friends and family. It makes for an interesting couple's date night or even a fantastic option for a kid's birthday party. Anew Artistry painting events also present an evangelistic outreach for church fellowship and building the community. Anew Artistry is painting with a purpose. In the referenced Bible verse, the word behold means to see or observe. That is our mission. To allow each individual the opportunity to discover the creative gifts that God gave them leading him or her to see themselves the way our Creator does.

LOOKING FORWARD

Glance at your past but for a moment
But don’t you linger there too long
Everything you went thru lies within
All life’s storms have made you strong

In the present there is a peace
Take a breath in and be still
And know that God is faithful
Fully surrender to him your will

When you focus on looking forward
There’s a stirring inside that takes place
You get a glimpse of your full potential
Honing in on God’s mercy and grace

Looking back we tend to see our failures
In Christ Jesus He’s wiped them away
Why allow your body to feel the strain
When there is joy to experience today

Take in this moment of awareness
And choose to let your past go
In the now there are possibilities
If you would allow yourself to grow

Don’t make apologies for who you were
Be the you today that you are
Embrace the process of becoming her
The her that’s gotten you this far!
