St. Luke's Chapel in the Hills Anglican Church AN ANGLICAN-EPISCOPAL PARISH: biblical in theology, traditional in worship, loving in practice. St.

Luke's Chapel in the Hills is a Parish in the Diocese of All Saints and a member of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), a branch of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church instituted by Jesus Christ, faithfully continuing the Anglican tradition. We uphold the historic Catholic Faith, Apostolic Order, and Evangelical Witness as set forth in the 1928 American edition of the Book of Common Prayer.

This Sunday (the 1st Sunday of every month) at St. Luke's we will offer Holy Unction, the ancient ministry of prayer and anointing with oil for healing.

Christians have practiced anointing for centuries, and it remains a cherished tradition among Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, and others.

Holy Unction is not only for times of serious illness. Many come seeking prayer for physical concerns, emotional burdens, spiritual struggles, recovery from surgery, chronic conditions, grief, anxiety, or simply a desire to place themselves more fully in God's care.

Through prayer and anointing, we entrust ourselves to Christ, the Great Physician, asking for His healing, strength, peace, and grace.

Holy Unction immediately follows Holy Communion at our 10:00AM service.

It's almost summer, which often brings a change of pace. It can also bring its own busyness and distractions.

Join us this evening for Evensong, a peaceful service of psalms, Scripture, prayer, and sacred music in the Anglican tradition.

In the middle of a busy week, this quiet hour offers space to slow down, be still, and reorient our hearts toward God. Whether you are a longtime Anglican or simply curious about this beautiful tradition, all are welcome.

Come rest. Come listen. Come pray. 📖🕯

On this lovely Trinity Sunday, I'm enjoying the latest edition of The Hillside Messenger. Our revised newsletter, now edited by Mark Benjamin, is full of thought-provoking articles and heart-stirring prayers.

Father Parrish encourages us to put "Put on the Whole Armor of God" (Ephesians 6:10-20), for hierarchies of demonic forces "are at work in the media, in politics, in the governments of this world, through books, music, fashion, and all that appeals to the senses, as well as in cults, and even in churches." He details how to adorn the Armor of God as we continually pray with the power of the Holy Spirit to protect us and all of God's people in our ordinary Christian lives.

Garet Comer reviews "The Story of Everything" and why this documentary by Eric Esau "will affirm your faith and leave you in awe of our Creator". Can't wait to watch it when available on streaming platforms - it sounds amazing!

In an entertaining fashion, Mark Benjamin compares the many translations of how the Bible begins. It's interesting to contemplate how different versions have a unique emphasis based on culture and the time in history.

I hope you'll check out the newsletter as well (link to it on our website, in the comments below👇). Please continue to use the prayer list at the end - to glorify God, let love grow in your heart, and ask that those in need receive healing blessings & His watchful providence.

God bless you all 💖

COLLECT OF THE DAY
Memorial Day (United States)

O King and Judge of the nations: We remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our armed forces, who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy; grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, now and for ever. Amen.

We invite you to join us at St. Luke’s for worship tomorrow to celebrate Pentecost and pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, our homes, and our world. Hope to see you then, Sunday May 24th for Holy Communion at 10AM. 🔥🕊️

Our Lord Jesus said, 'I am come to send fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled!' (Luke 12:49).

Tomorrow is Pentecost. Oh Lord, send afresh You Holy Spirit, He who is consuming fire, upon the heart-altars of all Your People.

St Cyril of Alexandria (375 - 444 AD) noted that:
"The fire is the saving message of the gospel and the power of its commandments. We were cold and dead because of sin and in ignorance of him who by nature is truly God. The gospel ignites all of us on earth to a life of piety and makes us fervent in spirit, according to the expression of blessed Paul. Besides this, we are also made partakers of the Holy Spirit, who is like fire within us. We have been baptized with fire and the Holy Spirit. We have learned the way from what Christ says to us. Listen to his words: 'Truly I say to you, that except a man be born of water and spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'

Today at St. Luke’s, we give thanks for our mothers - those still with us and those who now rest in the Lord’s care.

These carnations are offered in love, remembrance, and gratitude for the women who have shaped our lives with faith, sacrifice, tenderness, and strength.

Happy Mother’s Day. 💐

Good food, live music, and most of all - sweet fellowship.

One of the greatest blessings of our little church is the sense of community. It’s something you can feel right away - people lingering, talking, laughing, and simply enjoying being together.

We’re so grateful for days like this ❤️
