Why do Baptists recognize only two ordinances? What is the purpose of baptism and the Lord's Supper? Does either ordinance contribute to salvation?

In this lesson from our Baptist Distinctives series, Pastor John Mix examines the biblical foundation for the two ordinances Christ gave to His church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

Together we explore:
• The purpose of the ordinances
• Why salvation always precedes baptism
• The authority Christ gave His church to baptize
• How baptism identifies believers with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection
• The meaning and purpose of the Lord's Supper
• The biblical pattern of salvation, baptism, and church fellowship
• Why the ordinances are acts of obedience rather than means of receiving grace

The ordinances do not save us—they testify that we have been saved. They point believers to the finished work of Christ and identify us with His Gospel and His church.

Good intentions alone are not enough.

God never called us to simply “mean well.”
He called us to walk in obedience to His truth. ✝️

“To obey is better than sacrifice.” — 1 Samuel 15:22

Pastor Mix dives deeper into this in today’s devotional blog.

✨ What voice has been shaping your thoughts lately?

Fear?
Anxiety?
Discouragement?
Or God’s truth?

The enemy works through lies… but God’s Word brings peace, clarity, strength, and life 💛

May was a month filled with blessings, growth, and opportunities to serve at GracePointe!

We celebrated Mother's Day by honoring the mothers who faithfully invest in their families and our church. On the same day, we had the special privilege of dedicating a precious child to the Lord, committing together as a church family to encourage and support the next generation.

This month also marked an exciting milestone as the GracePointe podcast launched on Spotify, helping extend biblical preaching beyond Sunday services. Thanks to the strong response, the podcast quickly expanded to Apple Podcasts and iHeartRadio, allowing us to reach even more people with the truth of God's Word.

Our church family also came together for a Youth Camp Bake Auction Fundraiser, raising $1,205 to help send young people to camp this summer. We are thankful for the generosity and support shown by our church family as we invest in the next generation.

As Memorial Day approached, we took time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. We remain grateful for the freedoms we enjoy and the cost at which they were secured.

Through it all, God continued to bless with growth, visitors, and opportunities for outreach. We are excited to see what He will continue to do in the days ahead.

What a powerful Sunday at GracePointe as we continued our The Unstoppable Church series in Acts 11: “The Turning Point That Changed the Church Forever.”

Acts 11 shows us a pivotal moment in the early church—when the Gospel continued spreading beyond Jerusalem, the Gentiles were welcomed into God’s family, and Antioch became a new center for ministry.

We were reminded that God’s plans are often bigger than our expectations, and His work moves forward when His people are willing to trust Him and follow His leading.

God’s work advances when believers:
• Accept whom God accepts
• Encourage whom God is using
• Support what God is doing

In Acts 11, we come to one of the most important turning points in the history of the early church. What began in Jerusalem among the Jewish people expands to the Gentile world, Antioch rises as a new center of Gospel influence, and God continues His plan to spread the message of Jesus to all...
