Pray for the friars this Lent

For their hidden sacrifices.
For their joy.
For their perseverance.
For their spiritual fatherhood.

They carry so many of us in confession, at the altar, and in daily prayer.

And let’s beg the Lord for holy vocations — for generous men who will courageously say yes to Christ.

“Lord of the harvest, send laborers.”

The world says fatherhood requires a wife.
But the Franciscan heart knows fatherhood begins with a radical “yes” to Christ.

Spiritual fatherhood is real.

Our friars have given up biological fatherhood — not because they don’t love deeply, but because their hearts have been made wider. Wider through prayer. Wider through poverty. Wider through joyful surrender.

To be little.
To be poor.
To belong completely to Jesus.

And somehow… that “yes” makes room for everyone. Even the tiniest members of the Church. 🍼

Vocations aren’t about losing love.
They’re about multiplying it.

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.” – Matthew 18:5

Pray for our friars.
Pray for holy vocations.
And if He’s calling you — be brave enough to answer.

Throughout history, God has called men and women to follow Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi — a life marked by simplicity, joy, fraternity, and total trust in Divine Providence.

The Franciscan vocation is not merely an attraction to religious life or admiration for the habit. It is a radical call to live the Gospel without compromise.

It is a call to:
• Deep and personal encounter with Jesus Christ
• Ongoing conversion of heart
• Joyful poverty and simplicity
• Eucharistic devotion
• Fraternal community
• Missionary zeal for the renewal of the Church

When Christ told Francis, “Rebuild My Church,” He was not offering clarity about the future — only an invitation to trust.

That invitation continues today.

You may be called to the Franciscan Order if you experience:
• A persistent desire to give your whole life to Christ
• Restlessness with comfort or superficiality
• A longing for authentic fraternity and shared mission
• A deep attraction to living the Gospel in its fullness

As St. Clare of Assisi reminds us,

“We become what we love.”

Discernment begins not with certainty, but with prayerful openness:

“Lord, what do You want me to do?”

If you sense even a small stirring, consider speaking with a spiritual director or contacting a Franciscan vocation director. God’s call is gentle, but it is real — and responding generously may change everything.

Part of Franciscan religious life is learning to receive the gift of fraternity—even at the table.

Shared meals forms the community in humility, simplicity, and joy, reminding us that community is built in the ordinary moments just as much as in prayer and ministry. Like St. Francis, we learn that life together—marked by gratitude, laughter, and presence—is itself a place of encounter with the Lord.

From the table to the chapel, fraternity remains at the heart of the Franciscan vocation.

One of the greatest gifts of religious life is true community—not only among the friars, but with all those they walk alongside each day.

Moments like these reflect the beauty of a vocation lived in relationship, joy, and shared love for the Lord. In this kind of community, conversion is constant: hearts are continually invited to deeper trust, deeper joy, and deeper surrender.

What a gift to discern a vocation in a place like this—surrounded by students who love Christ, who seek holiness together, and who remind one another that following Him is meant to be lived in joy.

Today we celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life.

We give thanks for the friars and religious whose lives witness to radical love, joyful sacrifice, and total dependence on Christ. Through their prayer, preaching, service, and presence, they remind the Church that a life given completely to God is a life full of purpose and joy.

Their faithful “yes” continues to inspire hearts to listen more closely to the Lord’s call.

Please join us in praying for all consecrated religious—and for an increase in vocations to the consecrated life. 🤍🙏

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we pause not only to remember a legal decision, but to reaffirm a deeper truth: every human life is created with inherent dignity and infinite worth.

For Franciscans, this truth is lived through the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Poverty teaches us to reject a culture that measures life by productivity, convenience, or cost. It reminds us that life is not something to be used or discarded, but a gift to be received with reverence—especially when it is small, hidden, or vulnerable.

Chastity calls us to love rightly. It insists that our bodies and relationships are not about self-gratification, but about self-gift. In a world that often separates love from responsibility, chastity affirms that every life conceived through love has meaning and deserves protection.

Obedience roots us in trust—trust in God’s design for human life and His wisdom over our own. It asks us to listen, even when the truth is uncomfortable, and to align our lives with the Gospel rather than the demands of the world.

These vows shape vocation. Whether called to religious life, marriage, priesthood, or single life, every vocation flows from the same Franciscan witness: life is sacred, and love is meant to be faithful, fruitful, and free.

On this anniversary, we are invited to respond as St. Francis did—with humility, courage, and joyful fidelity—recognizing Christ in the least among us and choosing to defend life with both conviction and compassion.
