1 Kings 18:36-39 (NIV) 36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” 38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. 39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD--he is God! The LORD--he is God!”

As Elijah began his prayer to ask God to consume a sacrifice in front of the prophets of Baal, he said “let it be known that you are God in Israel.” Let’s align our hearts to pray with similar motives. What can you ask God for that would show the world that Jesus is God?

Here’s a thought, it isn’t really original and I’m sure you’ve heard it before. However, it is an important thought worth keeping at the front of our minds. Basically, nobody in your life is going to be exactly the way you want them to be, nor are they going to act precisely how you want them to act. With some folks the discrepancies will be minuscule and with some they will be massive—love them anyway!
