John 14:1-3 (NIV) 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Yesterday’s news was good. Today’s is not so hot. According to a 2025 Barna study, 46% of people who attend church weekly do not read or study the Bible on their own during the week. Almost half the folks who attend worship every week never open the Bible Monday through Saturday.

How well would you know your spouse if you ignored him/her six days a week? Not too well. Same goes for God. How can you get to know Him if you ignore what He has to say six days a week?

We can change this folks. If you want help getting started with a Bible reading plan, there are lots of good ones on line. We also have devotional books at the church. Holler at me if you need more help.

Did you know that 37% of practicing Christians trace their faith to a grandparent? Folks, don't ever think you are not useful just because your kids are grown or you are not in a workplace anymore. We all still have work to do to reach the generations behind us. Keep praying, keep serving, keep speaking God's word, keep loving, keep trusting. God has plans for you!

I just saw an article stating that information, including sermons, is available more readily now than ever before. We have an embarrassment of riches in the sermon department. However, human contact and true fellowship are at a dismally low point. This is reversed from what life was like 50 years ago. As a result, churches that major on relationships are poised to grow.

Friends, I realize that I am biased, but relationships are a strong point at Golinda. We have some of the friendliest, most caring people you can find anywhere. So if you’re out there and you need a place to make connections, if you need friends, if you want to worship beside people who genuinely care about you, if you need someone to encourage you, may I recommend FBC Golinda. We would be honored for you to worship with us Sunday.

I think this is so pretty. Thank you James and Brenda for putting so much work into this

Psalm 11:7 (NIV) For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.

Matthew 5:8 (NIV) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

The upright will see God. The pure in heart will see God. Why do we have to be upright/pure to see God? Because, as the verse above says, He is righteous. The important question, then, is how can we be pure or upright? The answer is through Jesus and only through Jesus. No system of rules, works, or rituals can make us pure. Only the divine Messiah, King Jesus, can do that for us.
