Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Independent Church is an Eastern Orthodox parish that was formed by Ukrainian immigrants in the early 1900s. The Divine Liturgy is almost entirely in English, as a number of our members are non-Ukrainian speaking. As a Christian church in the Eastern Orthodox tradition, we strive to do the most we can, for the greatest number we can. In light of the most recent invasion of Ukraine, however, our church mission is presently heavily focused on helping to secure safety for displaced Ukrainians who are fleeing the war, and ultimately, their success in navigating life in a new land. This includes coordinating access to a whole host of services including medical and mental health care, education, work, housing, food, transportation, ESOL services as well as translation/interpretation. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Independent Church has worked closely with community leaders to create the infrastructure in our community to support this mission. Our greatest challenge, however, is in helping our newcomers to get their needs met.
