Corpus Christi is the celebration of the abiding presence of a loving God as Emmanuel– God with us – in order to give collective thanks to our Lord for his living with us in the Eucharist.
The feast also gives us an occasion to learn more about the importance and value of the “Real Presence” of Jesus —Body and Blood, soul and Divinity under the appearances of bread and wine — so that we may appreciate the Sacrament better and receive maximum benefit from the Eucharist.
We believe in the “Real Presence” of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist because
1) Jesus promised it after miraculously feeding the 5000.
2) Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist during his Last Supper.
3) Jesus commanded his disciples to repeat it in his memory.
4) “Nothing is impossible for God.”
We explain the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist by: “Transubstantiation” which means that the substance of the consecrated bread and wine is changed to the substance of the risen Jesus’ glorified Body and Blood by the action of the Holy Spirit, and its accidents (like color, shape, taste etc.), remain the same.
We have the greatest gift possible from Jesus: His Holy Body and Blood, in the Eucharist. This should be more than just something routine that we do.
The grace poured out on us at every Mass as we receive the Eucharist is intended to give us strength to live the Christian life in a challenging world.
However, we need to receive it worthily. If we are aware of serious sin in our lives, we need to go to Confession and be absolved of that sin before we go to Communion. This, sadly, is often ignored or forgotten by the faithful.
The Body and Blood of Christ our Savior is God’s greatest gift to us, let us be mindful of the price that was paid for our salvation.

The Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is a Catholic celebration of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist—and thus a sacred reminder that, in every Mass, Jesus’ one sacrifice of Calvary is sacramentally made present and offered anew for “the forgiveness of the sins we daily commit” (CCC 1366).

Bulletin for the week of June 7, 2026. Note there is NO 10AM MASS on June 14.

“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” — John 6:54

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals the gift of Himself in the Eucharist. He is not offering a symbol, but His very life: true food and true drink for the salvation of the world.

To receive Him is to remain in Him, to be nourished by His presence, and to share in the promise of eternal life.

🙏 Lord, deepen our love for the Eucharist, strengthen our faith in Your presence, and draw us ever closer to You.

🌿 **Living Life Liturgically** 🌿

One of the beautiful gifts of our Catholic faith is that we don't simply celebrate the mysteries of Christ—we live them throughout the year.

Each season and feast day offers an opportunity to bring our faith into our homes and families, helping us become disciples not only on Sundays but every day.

❤️‍🔥 **Coming Soon: Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus** ❤️‍🔥

Celebrated on the Friday following Corpus Christi, this feast reminds us of the immense love and mercy Jesus has for each one of us. His Heart burns with love for humanity and invites us to draw near to Him.

Here are a few simple ways to celebrate:

🍔 Host a family "feast" night or summer cookout
🍪 Make Sacred Heart-shaped cookies
🎨 Invite children to decorate cookies or complete Sacred Heart coloring pages
🙏 Pray together before a Sacred Heart image
❤️ Entrust your family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Living liturgically doesn't have to be complicated. Small traditions practiced faithfully can help build a Catholic culture in our homes and deepen our love for Christ.

💬 How does your family celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

❤️‍🔥 Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Diocese of Jefferson City

JUNE 5 + Today is the Feast Day of Spiritual Warrior Saint Boniface + Pray for us

Boniface, known as the Apostle of the Germans, was an English Benedictine monk who gave up being elected abbot to devote his life to the conversion of the Germanic tribes. Two characteristics stand out: his Christian orthodoxy and his fidelity to the pope of Rome.

How absolutely necessary this orthodoxy and fidelity were is borne out by the conditions Boniface found on his first missionary journey in 719 at the request of Pope Gregory II. Paganism was a way of life. What Christianity he did find had either lapsed into paganism or was mixed with error. The clergy were mainly responsible for these latter conditions since they were in many instances uneducated, lax and questionably obedient to their bishops. In particular instances their very ordinations were questionable.

These are the conditions that Boniface was to report in 722 on his first return visit to Rome. The Holy Father instructed him to reform the German Church. The pope sent letters of recommendation to religious and civil leaders. Boniface later admitted that his work would have been unsuccessful, from a human viewpoint, without a letter of safe-conduct from Charles Martel, the powerful Frankish ruler, grandfather of Charlemagne. Boniface was finally made a regional bishop and authorized to organize the whole German Church. He was eminently successful.

In order to restore the Germanic Church to its fidelity to Rome and to convert the pagans, Boniface had been guided by two principles. The first was to restore the obedience of the clergy to their bishops in union with the pope of Rome. The second was the establishment of many houses of prayer which took the form of Benedictine monasteries. A great number of Anglo-Saxon monks and nuns followed him to the continent, where he introduced the Benedictine nuns to the active apostolate of education.

During a final mission to the Frisians, Boniface and 53 companions were massacred while he was preparing converts for confirmation.

Boniface bears out the Christian rule: To follow Christ is to follow the way of the cross. For Boniface, it was not only physical suffering or death, but the painful, thankless, bewildering task of Church reform.
