Camp season is here!! As a staff, we spend all year preparing for the next 9 weeks. Our interns arrived last night, and we hit the ground running this morning with training and preparing the camp for the arrival of campers on June 8th. If you have followed our social media pages, we have been sharing the names and photos of our summer staff along with ways you can pray for them.
In addition to praying for our summer staff, I'd like to ask that you also pray for our full-time staff. There is no doubt in my mind that each one of us feels called to serve here at Spring Lake, but the days are long, and we grow weary as the weeks go on. Here are some ways you can pray for us as a staff.
God-Centered: Pray that as we serve, we remember who and why we serve. That we don't get lost in the day-to-day of the summer camp season and that our focus each day remains on the Kingdom impact made at camp.
Unity: Pray that our staff remains united. Things move fast at camp, and we are all going in different directions. Clear and open communication can sometimes be lacking, causing frustration.
Health: Pray that each of us stays healthy during the summer, as it takes all of us to make things work.
Our Families: The gift of working at camp is that our families get to serve alongside us, but we, as a staff, spend a lot of time away from home during this season. My prayer often for my own family is that the Lord will meet me and fill in the gaps where I fall short as a wife, mom, and daughter. I pray similar prayers over the rest of our staff, and the season they are in with their own families.
Preparation for next summer: While campers are anxiously awaiting this year's summer camp season, we are already discussing and planning next year's camp season.
I'd also like to ask that you take time and pray over the camp leadership and campers who will be attending camp this summer. Here are some ways you can pray for them:
Camp Leadership: They spend all year and countless hours preparing for this week. Pray that while in the throws of things, they get a moment to step back and see God at work. That the worries they have over the week of camp leave them when they pull into Spring Lake.
Camp Speakers: Pray that the Lord uses them as a vessel to speak his words and not theirs. I do not doubt that the Lord has laid a specific message on their hearts meant for that week's campers to hear.
Campers: Pray that as they arrive at camp, any fears, worries, or weight from at-home circumstances stay at the gate. That they come with open hearts, ready to hear what the Lord has for them that week. That when they leave here, their relationship with the Lord is stronger, and they take that relationship out into their homes and schools to make a greater Kingdom impact.
Mrs. Carolyn was one of our faithful volunteers and one of our greatest prayer warriors. Each Monday during the camp season, she would drive out early in the morning and walk the camp, praying over each building, the campers, the camp leadership, the summer staff, and the full-time staff. She would sometimes leave notes behind for the staff, letting us know she had been here and that we had been prayed over. My goal since her passing has been to gather multiple different prayer warriors who will carry on in her footsteps. If this is something you would be interested in carrying on, please let us know. This looks different for everyone, and it doesn't mean you have to drive out here to pray over us. If you email me at [email protected] with your contact information, I will send you a list of the camps and retreats coming up each month for you to pray over.
