37 Years of Faithful Service. A Legacy That Will Live On. 🙏🏾❤️
Yesterday was truly a bittersweet day for the MOBC family as Rev. Palmer preached his final sermon as our pastor after 37 years of faithful service.
For nearly four decades, Rev. Palmer has given so much of himself to his church family and the community. He has preached the Word, prayed for families, encouraged those who were struggling, celebrated our victories, stood with us through our losses, and remained a faithful servant of God through every season.
Thirty-seven years of ministry cannot simply be measured by time. It is measured by the lives touched, souls encouraged, families strengthened, lessons taught, seeds planted, and generations impacted. There are people walking in their faith today because Rev. Palmer answered God’s call and remained committed to it.
It was only fitting that his final sermon as pastor came from 1 Corinthians 15:58, with the title:
“A Charge and a Promise”
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)
What a powerful scripture to close this chapter of ministry. After 37 years of being steadfast, unmovable, and committed to the work of the Lord, Rev. Palmer leaves us with both a charge to continue the work and a reminder that everything done for the Lord has purpose. His labor has not been in vain.
Rev. Palmer will truly be missed as our pastor, but the impact of his ministry will remain within MOBC and throughout this community for generations to come. His legacy lives in every person he baptized, counseled, prayed for, encouraged, taught, mentored, married, comforted, and pointed toward Christ.
As Rev. Palmer enters retirement, we send our love and well wishes to him and our First Lady, Mrs. Palmer. We pray that God blesses this next chapter of their lives with peace, good health, joy, and rest. Most importantly, we pray that God allows them to enjoy as much precious time as possible with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Rev. Palmer, thank you for 37 years of sacrifice, leadership, service, love, and faithfulness. Thank you for loving MOBC. Thank you for loving the community. And thank you for answering God’s call.
Your time as pastor may have come to an end, but your impact, your teachings, and your legacy will continue.
