National Donut Day is this Friday, June 5!
More than a century ago, the “Donut Lassies” entered WWI huts with hands full of flour, sugar, and the honest intention to lift the spirits of the soldiers who were far from home. Against all odds, that small act of kindness made a lasting difference.

On June 7, 1938, The Salvation Army first celebrated National Doughnut Day as a fundraiser during the Great Depression to support families facing hardship. It was a wonderful act that mirrored and honored the legacy of those courageous women.

Today, at The Salvation Army, we carry this purpose forward each day, meeting local needs with love and compassion through our food pantries 🍽️, food parcel services 📦, and mobile food pantries 🚚.

Did you know that The Salvation Army’s summer camps have been around almost as long as The Salvation Army itself?

The first official summer camp was the “Fresh Air Camp” in Kansas City, and the oldest existing camp was established in 1901 in Camp Lake, Wisconsin.

The rest has been history, serving children across the nation and providing them a summer full of fresh air, sunshine, friendship, ministry, and character-building activities. ☀️

Top of the morning, friends! Do your kids ever feel worried or confused in today's chaotic world? Just like sheep without a shepherd, they need a trustworthy guide. This summer, we are thrilled to invite your children on a life-changing expedition to Emerald Crossing.

Through interactive Bible lessons, fun games, yummy snacks, and music, we'll be journeying through Psalm 23 every day! Your kids will meet the shepherd-king David and discover how our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, leads us from fear to faith and anxiety to peace.

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country. At The Salvation Army Texas, every day we offer a number of support services for local veterans struggling to get by.

We forever recognize and commemorate the bravery of those who sacrifice their everyday lives and comforts for the greater good of America, and we strive to ensure that those who return home have the support and resources to build a thriving post-service future.

Giving with joy doesn’t have to happen alone. In fact, the more the merrier!

Throughout the year, our hallways are filled with high school groups, college students, small businesses, churches and teams coming together to serve in different ways.

Some organize food drives. Some volunteer their time. Others raise funds to support the work happening every day.

However they show up, each act becomes part of something bigger!
