Hearing and knowing God's Word is not enough; we must receive it, believe it correctly, and then live it out.

* Receiving - receive the Word with a willing heart. Don't be "dull of hearing." Let God's truth take root in your heart.

* Deceiving - don't deceive yourself by merely hearing the word and thinking that is enough.

Know and follow the truth as God actually gave it, rather than interpreting it to suit yourself. Eternity is too long to be wrong.

*Achieving - do the word. Put what the Bible teaches into practice and allow God's Word to direct your thoughts, choices and actions.

James says the blessing comes not simply from hearing the word but from doing it.

God is the ultimate authority and He has ordained human government to maintain order and punish wrongdoing.

As Americans and Christians, we are to respect those in authority, obey the law, pay what we owe and show honor where it is due.

Our highest allegiance, however, remains to God, whose authority is above all earthly authority.

Romans 12:1-2. These verses teach that what we allow into our minds matters because it shapes how we think, what we value, and ultimately how we live.

Paul tells us not to be conformed to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Simply put: what we put into our minds can shape what comes out in our lives.

Reach Out - Encourage and build up others
Reach Up - Promote and praise the work of God
Reach In - Examine your heart and willingly surrender your time,
talents and resources to God.

Live like Barnabas - reach out, reach up and reach in for the glory of God.

Creation is foundational to our faith. The credibility of Jesus Christ requires creation because Jesus affirmed that God created mankind.

The Gospel is tied to creation because the Creator is the One who provides redemption through Christ.

Creation is also connected to the future judgment of the world because the Creator has the authority to judge His creation.

If we believe in Christ, we must believe the truth of creation.

Spiritual discouragement can rob us of our joy and peace when we allow our circumstances to become greater than our faith. It can leave us feeling bitter, overwhelmed, weary, and hopeless, causing us to focus on our problems instead of the Lord.

We can encourage ourselves in the Lord by getting alone with Him in prayer, pouring out our hearts to Him, reading and meditating on His Word, and reminding ourselves of His promises and His faithfulness.
