We face constant difficulties in this life.

Just recently, during Memorial Day week, this world and this community lost Matt, a beloved friend and teammate, a husband and father, and an all-around good man.

In this lesson, we open God’s Word to consider where a hurting heart can find real comfort.

From 2 Corinthians 1:3–5, we learn that God is the God of all comfort. He comforts us in every affliction, and His comfort is meant to flow through us to others. We also learn that our comfort is abundant through Christ.

The grief may still hurt, and the road may still be difficult, but God is not absent. He draws near to the brokenhearted, strengthens the weary, and gives us hope beyond the grave through Jesus Christ.

In this sermon from Matthew 5:13–16, we study Jesus’ words to His disciples: “You are the salt of the earth” and “You are the light of the world.”

The Christian life is not about drawing attention to ourselves, but about allowing God’s light to shine through us so others may see Him and glorify the Father.

1. Remember Who You Are
Christians belong to God, carry His truth, and represent His Son. We are called to be salt and light in a world that needs the truth of God and the gospel of Christ.

2. Refuse to Hide
Jesus did not give His people light so they could cover it up. Fear, excuses, bad experiences, or weak convictions must not keep us from speaking and living for God. We must shine with wisdom, love, courage, tact, and patience.

3. Be Seen Doing Good
Good works do not earn salvation, but they are the fruit of a life changed by God’s grace. Our homes, conversations, attitudes, service, and daily choices should reflect the goodness of Christ.

4. Point All Glory Back to the Father
The goal is not that people see how great we are, but how great God is. Any good in us is reflected glory, and the closer we stay to God, His Word, prayer, humility, and obedience, the more clearly His light shines through us.

We do not shine so people can see us.
We shine because people need to see Him.

If your light has grown dim, come back close to God. Come back to His Word. Come back to prayer. Come back to the Father wholeheartedly.

Today’s sermon, “Take Up the Towel,” comes from John 13:1–17, where Jesus washed His disciples’ feet and showed us what true service looks like.

A simple towel became a powerful picture of love, humility, and blessing.

Main points:

1. Serving Begins With Love
We serve because Christ first loved us.

2. Serving Requires Humility
Jesus, the Lord and Teacher, took the lowest place and showed us the heart of a servant.

3. Serving Brings Blessing
Jesus said we are blessed when we do what He taught.

The message is simple: Jesus served us first, so we must learn to serve like Him.

May we be a people who take up the towel, serve like Jesus, love like Jesus, and glorify God like Jesus.

What a blessing this weekend was!

We are so thankful to everyone who came out to our Parent Provisions event. Over two days, we were able to serve well over 400 people and give away thousands of items, including infant and toddler clothing, toys, diapers, baby gear, food and drinks, household items, and so much more.

We want to give a special shoutout to A Precious Child for their amazing help and support. Their generosity made a tremendous difference and helped us serve so many families in a meaningful way.

We also want to thank every organization that donated, every person who gave items, and every volunteer who helped make this event possible. From sorting and organizing, to setting up, serving, cleaning, welcoming families, and helping wherever needed, this event happened because so many people were willing to serve.

We are so thankful that we could host this event and provide practical help to our community. Lord willing, we would love to make Parent Provisions an annual event and continue serving families in this way each year.

To everyone who came, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to meet you and serve you. You are always welcome to visit us anytime at Twin Peaks Church of Christ.

To God be the glory!

In this sermon from Acts 18:24–28, we study the example of Apollos and see what happens when a sincere, talented, and knowledgeable man comes face to face with truth.

Apollos was educated, eloquent, mighty in the Scriptures, and fervent in spirit. But he was still missing something important.

Apollos did not resist correction.
He received the truth with humility, and God used him even more powerfully.

A humble heart does not resist God’s Word.
A humble heart is changed by God’s Word.

Throughout this text, we observe 3 points:

1. Education Is a Lifelong Journey
No matter how much we know, there is still more to learn. Growth in God’s Word is not something we graduate from.

2. Talent Will Only Take You So Far
Ability is a blessing, but ability must be submitted to truth. Confidence, passion, and sincerity are not enough without the whole counsel of God.

3. What You Are Missing Might Be Very Important
One missing truth can affect what we teach, how we serve, and whether we are fully aligned with the will of God.

God’s Word is given to teach us, correct us, train us, and transform us.

A strong Christian is not someone who never needs correction, but someone humble enough to receive it.

Coming face to face with the gospel will change you.
The question is whether we will humbly receive it.

Motherhood gives us a beautiful picture of sacrificial love.

A faithful mother gives, serves, carries burdens, and seeks the good of another. But that kind of love points us even higher, to the perfect love of Jesus Christ.

At the cross, Mary stood near her suffering Son. But there, we see the greatest love of all. Even in His pain, Jesus cared for her, served others, and gave Himself for our salvation.

That is the love every Christian is called to live.

In this sermon, we consider three important truths:

1. Love Receives Responsibility
Every Christian must receive what God has placed before them and handle it faithfully for His glory.

2. Love Carries Pain
Every Christian must keep loving, serving, and doing right, even when faithfulness brings sorrow or sacrifice.

3. Love Gives Like Christ
Every Christian must see the needs of others and give themselves in sacrificial love, just as Christ gave Himself for us.

Just as we see in faithful mothers,
and just as we see perfectly in Jesus,
every Christian is called to embody:

A love that sees the need.
A love that stays and serves.
A love that sacrifices for the good of another.

With honor comes responsibility. Motherhood is an honor. Christianity is an honor. And both call us to a love that looks more like Jesus.

If Jesus gave Himself for us, then we must give ourselves in faithful service to Him and to others.

What do we do when we pray, but the answer does not seem to come right away?

In Psalm 28, David begins by crying out to God, asking the Lord not to be silent. But by the time we reach verses 6–9, David is praising God because he knows the Lord has heard his prayer.

This sermon walks through Psalm 28:6–9 and reminds us that God’s timing does not mean God is absent. His way may not always be what we expect, but His way is always right.

Main Lesson:
Because we know God hears us, we can trust Him with the burden, the timing, and the outcome.

In this sermon, we see three powerful truths:

1. The Lord Hears Our Cry
God’s hearing is not measured by how quickly our circumstances change, but by His faithful character.

2. The Lord Helps Our Heart
The Lord is our strength and shield. He does not only work around us, He works within us, strengthening our hearts to trust Him.

3. The Lord Works Through Us
When God helps us, He teaches us to look beyond ourselves. Helped people help people, especially by lifting others up to God in prayer.

No matter what burden you are carrying, Psalm 28 reminds us that our prayers do not fall to the ground, disappear into the air, or get ignored by heaven. God hears. God cares. God helps. God carries His people.

The Great Commission - Matthew 28:18-20

We are simply going to ask two questions that shape everything about the Christian life

1. Who is Jesus to you?
- Does He have all authority over you?
- Is He the one sitting on the throne of your heart?

2. Who are you to Jesus?
- Are you His disciple right now?
- Are you still learning, listening, and letting Him shape your heart?

Because when those two questions are settled—
when Jesus is truly Lord to you,
and you are truly a disciple to Him…

When Jesus has all authority over your thoughts,
your actions, your choices, and all that you are…
and when you are fully devoted to serving Him
and belonging to Him…

You stop treating faith like a private possession.
You stop assuming evangelism is only for the evangelist.
You stop believing that the Great Commission expires at retirement age.

And you start seeing your everyday life differently:

Everywhere you go becomes an opportunity to share His love.
Everyone you talk to begins to see His love through you.

The everyday things you do…
become opportunities to share the eternal things
that were given to you.
