The story of Noah and his family would have been very different had Noah waited until the rain began to turn to God. Today Pastor Jeff reminds us of the importance of maintaining a relationship with God and walking with Him during the "ordinary days" of our lives.

The story of Noah is shaped by two phrases we might not adequately appreciate. The first, "So God said to Noah..." reminds us that God speaks to His people. The second, "So Noah did everything just as God commanded," reminds us that doing what God tells us to do will shape, and perhaps save, our lives.

Following yesterday's time of prayer for healing, Pastor Jeff reminds us of the promise given in Psalm 147:3; "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." It's a reminder that Jesus can heal those deep private inner wounds that we may not feel we can share with others.

The story of Jesus healing the man with leprosy found in Mark 1 doesn't end with the healing. It ends with the man telling everyone what Jesus had done for him. Many of us have our own stories of Jesus' healing and restoration. Do these stories end with our telling others about Him?

In Mark 1 a man suffering with leprosy falls at Jesus' feet saying, "If you are willing, you can make me clean.โ€ Suprisingly, Jesus was indignant at the man's declaration. Today Pastor Jeff reminds us we are to believe not only that our healing is in Jesus' hands, but also that our healing is in Jesus' heart.

"Heal me Lord, and I will be healed. Save me and I will be saved..." This is a powerful declaration of trust in God's power from the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 17:14) How can Jeremiah speak with such certainty? The way he concludes his statement gives the answer: "...for You are the One I praise."

We all love stories of new beginnings - stories where people experience new starts and new opportunities. This Sunday at Valley View Chapel we'll see such stories told in the lives of those who will be baptized. And as Pastor Jeff reminds us this morning, this is the "business" of our church and its ministries.

The verb "baptize" comes from a root word that means, "to dip" or "to immerse." Today Pastor Jeff urges us to consider this when we read, "Or don't you know all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?" (Romans 6:3)
