Christ the Good Shepherd American Coptic Orthodox Church

Christ the Good Shepherd American Coptic Orthodox Church Our mission is to shepherd the broken-hearted towards Christ’s healing Love. Isaiah 61.

At the heart of CTGS we believe we are called as The Church to tend to those who have been wounded in the battlefield of life. To proclaim the good news to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives and release those trapped in darkness. By opening our doors, our lives and our hearts to those in need, we aim to live the true life of ‘Koinonia’, a Greek word used in th

e early Church that refers to the fullness of fellowship. It is a word the challenges us to participate together fully in life, uniting in our purpose, loving, serving, encouraging, honoring one another, praying, worshiping and walking the path of life together. Not least of all, we come together as we partake of the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Communion) where we unite as one Body in Christ. We do all this with the knowledge that it is God’s limitless Love in us that heals, not our own, and that as we tend to His lambs, He faithfully reveals Himself to us in the broken and humble of heart. As we encounter and serve ‘the least of these, His brethren’ He heals our own hurts, and so, in true ‘Koinonia’, we journey forth together in the path of healing. At CTGS we are prayerfully seeking God’s Grace to transform our own hearts as we surrender ourselves to Christ as vessels of His Hope, Healing, Truth and Love.

Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!

Blessed Resurrection Feast to all Orthodox Christians who celebrate today! We had a joyous liturgy last night, as we remembered our Lord’s victory over death and welcomed many new Christians into the faith.✝️ May the Lord continue to bless your journey with Him in these next Holy 50 Days.

Please note that there will be no weekday liturgies from April 13-24. Weekend liturgies on Saturday and Sunday, as well as other services, including the food pantry and daily community walks, will continue as usual.

Thank you so much to all those who donated, volunteered, and attended our community Christmas celebration on Saturday! ❤️ We loved serving our neighbors and getting to spend the day with all the families. It was a blessed time and keeps us looking forward to the Nativity of our Lord. May your families experience and share His holy love and joy this season. Have a very Merry Christmas! 🎄⛪️🎁

“‘For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’” Luke 2:11-14

Our volunteers are excited and preparing lots of goodies for our back-to-school giveaway tomorrow! 🤩

Here are some tips to make the most of the day:

🎒 Event starts at 12:00pm. Please be respectful of our neighbors, as the line forms outside the gate in a residential neighborhood.

🎒 Children must be present to receive supplies. All items are given to-go.

🎒 Street parking is very limited, so carpools, drop-offs, and public transportation are recommended.

🎒 We recommend bringing water bottles and hats or umbrellas to stay cool in the summer heat.

See you soon! 🥳📚✏️🚌🏫🖍️
