Today, December 17, 2022, the cemetery at St Kilian's in Bear Valley was the site of a veteran recognization ceremony. This ceremony was to remember all the veterans laid to rest in this cemetery. The program was coordinated by St. Kilians Veteran Recognition - Bear Valley, WI. A special thank you to all the people who made this program possible including the Lone Rock American Legion Post 383 for providing the honor guard as well as making & donating all of the wreaths, St. Kilians Veteran Recognition - Bear Valley, WI for organizing the ceremony, Emma Schoen who did a beautiful job of playing TAPS, Mark Jelinek for being the MC, John Schmitz for leading the songs, and especially the families and friends of the veterans who are buried at this cemetery. Those attending the ceremony were able to place wreaths at the headstones of veterans who are buried at St. Kilians.
It was a cold and windy day but many people arrived early to make sure all the wreaths were in place and also helped to remove snow and ice from the headstones.
A huge thank you to the students from St. Mary School-Richland Center and members of the Buena Vista Wonder Workers 4-H Club who participated in today's program. These students were a great help in clearing snow from headstones today and placing wreaths. Over the past year, many of the same youth helped clean headstones and do general clean-up at St. St Kilians Bear Valley.
Please make plans to attend next year's program that will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
