True life

“Wert thou to attain to but a dewdrop of the crystal waters of divine knowledge, thou wouldst readily realize that true life is not the life of the flesh but the life of the spirit. Look!

We are well aware of the countless afflictions that weigh down all of humankind. We see it, on its bed of pain, languishing, cruelly tested, and profoundly disillusioned. But those poisoned by pride have interposed themselves between the sick and the divine, the infallible Physician. See how they have ensnared all people, themselves included, in the nets of their cunning. They are no more capable of discovering the cause of the illness than of finding its cure. Uprightness is duplicity to them, and they mistake their friend for an enemy. Listen to the sweet melody of this prisoner.

Rise up!

And let your voices rise to awaken the slumbering!

Say:

O you who are like the dead, the hand of divine goodness extends to you the water of life. Hasten to quench your thirst there. Whoever is reborn on that day will never die, and whoever remains dead will never live again.
