Daniel Henson attended Georgetown College, while his lovely wife Whitley attended Eastern Kentucky University. ❀️ Their daughter Puck is currently a student at Midway University ~ between Georgetown and Frankfort. And it looks like they're all stars in finding the most delicious cheesy fries! ❀️🍟❀️ We look forward to welcoming the Hensons on July 12 for their first Sunday with us! ❀️

Remembering with honor those who gave their very lives in defending our beloved families and nation ❀️ The first Decoration Day began with the Ladies Memorial Association of Columbus, GA, in 1866. Mrs. Mary Ann Williams invited other areas to join in the observance, with letters sent to cities like New Orleans, St. Louis, Richmond, and Atlanta. General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic designated May 30, 1868, as the first official Decoration Day, and it was observed at Arlington and other cemeteries. In 1950, the House and Senate passed a joint resolution asking the President to designate May 30 as Memorial Day. In 1968, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Johnson. It took effect in 1971, with the first national Memorial Day ~ on the last Monday in May ~ observed on May 31, 1971. Our heartfelt gratitude is with all those who gave their lives to protect and preserve our beloved nation and our cherished homes and families. β€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
