But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

DAILY DEVOTION

Don't Put It Off

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
PROVERBS 27:1

There is nobody so bad he or she cannot be saved. There is no one so good he or she need not be saved. There are many, however, who are going to be lost because of their self-righteous attitudes. They never repent of their sin. They never receive Christ as their Savior. But I’m going to tell you why I believe most people hear me or any other Gospel preacher, and then go out but are still lost. It’s not because they rebel against God or disbelieve, and it’s not because they’re self-righteous. I believe most of the people who hear the Gospel message and remain unsaved are lost because of procrastination. They know that they need to be saved, and they say, “One of these days I’m going to get saved.” But they keep putting it off. Why? Well, they got by yesterday without Jesus, they got by the day before without Jesus, and the day before that, and so on. So, they assume that tomorrow will be like yesterday. This is a dangerous assumption and one no one should make.

DAILY DEVOTION

Protection on Every Side

“Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”
Job 1:10, ESV

It’s interesting that when Satan wanted to test Job’s faith, he acknowledged that God had put a hedge of protection and blessing around Job and his family that he couldn’t pe*****te. Job had no idea of how God had kept him from trouble. You’re not at the mercy of fate and happenstance. God has a hedge around you and your family as well. That’s not to say that nothing harmful or evil will ever happen. God doesn’t stop everything, but know that nothing can touch you without His permission. How many times has God protected you when you didn’t even know about it? He stopped that car from hitting you, stopped the sickness before it got to you, stopped the setback in its tracks. His favor, protection, and mercy are watching over you, keeping you from harm’s way.
We can all find reasons to live afraid, worried, and uptight about what might happen to us. But when you understand who’s watching over you, who’s ordering your steps, who’s fighting your battles, who’s holding back the darkness, you can say with confidence, “I will not fear.”

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for Your protection and blessing over my life and my family. Thank You for watching over me and controlling my times of testing. I believe there is a hedge about me and that as I move forward in faith, You will bring me out better off than I was before. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

DAILY DEVOTION

Are You a Good Listener?

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
(James 1:19)

I have an occupational hazard; I am a preacher and I like to talk. As a result, I'm not necessarily a good listener, but I am learning. We all need to learn to listen.
When you listen, you encourage others to talk. If another person has the idea that you're not listening, that person is not going to want to talk.
When you listen, you encourage people to talk. Well, what good does that do?
It helps you understand. You cannot understand somebody you're not listening to. And when you understand your mate, it follows as night follows day that understanding will bring you closer together. You're going to achieve intimacy. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that.
The reason many of us don't listen is, number one, we're defensive. Our ego is there. We don't want to hear; we don't want anybody to tell us anything.
Number two, we assume we already know what others are going to say, and we finish their sentences for them before they ever get to the end. Number three, while they're talking, we're thinking about what we're going to say and how we're going to answer. Instead of listening, we're preparing our own speeches in response. The Bible says we need to learn to listen.
When do you struggle to listen to others?
How have you been impacted when someone took the time to listen to you?
Ask someone how he or she is doing today and practice really listening.

DAILY INSPIRATION FOR TUESDAY JUNE 2

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

It's hard to be nostalgic when you can't remember anything.

___

DAILY DEVOTION

Don’t Worry about It. Pray!

“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?”
Romans 8:32 (NLT)

Anytime I needed something when I was a kid, I’d talk to my dad. Sometimes what I needed was expensive, but not once did I worry about where my father was going to get the money for it. That wasn’t my job! It was my dad’s job to figure out where the money would come from. It was my job as a kid to simply ask.
In the same way, it’s not your job to figure out how God’s going to provide. It’s your job to ask.
When you worry instead of asking, you’re acting like an atheist, like someone who believes they don’t have a heavenly Father. Worry is practical atheism. It’s living your life like God doesn’t exist or can’t be trusted.
The Bible is clear: God wants you to come to Him in prayer about everything. James 4:2 says, “You do not have because you do not ask God” (NIV).
Worry less and ask more. Instead of worrying, pray about everything.
As Philippians 4:6 says, “Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests” (GW).
Did you catch that? God wants you to come to Him in every situation. You can talk to Him about everything—no matter how big or small it seems to you.
Romans 8:32 says, “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (NLT).
God has solved your biggest problem—your sin—and everything else is small by comparison.
If God loved you enough to send Jesus to die for your sins, don’t you think He loves you enough to help you with your finances? Don’t you think He loves you enough to help you with your health? With your relationships? With career decisions? With your deadline?
God is interested in every single area of your life. In fact, He already knows what you need. But He still wants you to ask Him for it.
Are you ready to reduce the stress in your life? God is waiting for you to come to Him with your needs. Choose to worry about nothing—and pray about everything.

DAILY INSPIRATION FOR MONDAY JUNE 1

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Wake up every morning and ask God, "What do I need to work on today?"

DAILY DEVOTION

Bring Every Thought into Captivity

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5, NKJV

The apostle Paul says that every time a negative thought comes to you, whether it’s fear, worry, or doubt, you can’t be passive or complacent. You have to arrest that thought, you have to bring into captivity any thought that goes against what God says. It’s an intruder. It has no right to stay, making its home in your mind. You need to get your handcuffs out, lock it up, and send it away. To take it captive indicates forcefully and aggressively being on the offensive. Paul could have said, “Just don’t think it. Don’t pay it attention.” But God is showing us how important it is that we be proactive, that if we’re going to have a sound mind, a healthy mind, it’s not going to happen automatically.

The Scripture says to “give no place to the enemy.” Are there some intruders in your mind that you’re allowing to stay? Are you giving place to negative, discouraging thoughts? It’s time to start locking up those thoughts. Refuse to dwell on them. Refuse to let the negative play in your mind.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for giving me the power to take captive any thought that goes against what You have said in Your Word. Thank You that I can cast down the negative thoughts that come against me. I refuse to give the enemy any place or to let the negative play in my mind. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
