Lompoc Church of Christ

Lompoc Church of Christ The Lompoc Church of Christ welcomes you and your family to join us in praising our Lord and Savior. Feel free to stop by at any time during Services.

The church of Christ Lompoc Ca. is simply a local congregation of God's people, just like those you read about in the New Testament. We are are just a non-denominational church of Christ - simply Christians. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and we try to follow it as our only authority in religion. Since we find no denominational names in the Bible, we wear no such names. We have

no man-made creeds to set forth doctrine because the Bible provides us to all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Following just the Bible will make us just Christians and members of Jesus' true church, just like Peter, Paul, and other New Testament Christians (Acts 11:26) .

God is never in a hurry, but He is never late.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psa. 27:14

The amount of good things in your life depends
on your ability to noticve them.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness. Lam. 3:22-23

Jessie never thought he’d actually miss a flight. He’d cut some close—where they shut the door right behind him—but he’d been flying for decades and had never actually missed a flight.
Then one day, it happened. He’d gotten to the airport in plenty of time. But then his ride got turned around in the wrong terminal and had to circle the airport before dropping him off…in what turned out to be the wrong place. He got lost finding check in…and had to wait a long time. Still, he was doing okay, so he grabbed a quick bite to eat. He hadn’t counted on the security line taking an hour, nor was he even tracking the time to see how late it had gotten. He was too busy having a good time in line, visiting with other people, playing on his phone, listening to music.
By the time he realized his flight was about to leave, it was too late to do anything. He raced through the airport as fast as he could, but when he arrived at the gate, the door was shut. He begged the attendant to open up, but it was no use. The plane had departed…without him.

“For He says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2
Have a blessed Monday as you live today—and every day—with eternity in your heart and heaven in your view.

No one could see what Tim saw in that old house. They saw brokenness; he saw potential. They saw chipped paint, falling gutters, and a leaky roof–not to mention dirt everywhere and enough cobwebs to catch an ant farm. He saw the builder’s original intent–and what that house could one day be.
Others couldn’t understand why Tim worked hour after hour, nailing in broken pieces, sanding down the chipped paint. His hands often got splinters or ached from his labors, but he didn’t stop. He spent lots of money, but he didn’t care. He saw not what was, but what would be–and that house had been made to shine.
You see, Tim knew something the others didn’t. He knew what the house had been built to be…because he’d built it. A terrible disaster had destroyed the home many years back, but Tim wouldn’t give up on that old house.
It took years–one could even say a lifetime–but one day others saw it too. No one could recognize in the elegant mansion the once forsaken home.

'And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. '
Philippians 1:6
God is in the business of restoring what sin has ruined. In Christ, we’re new creations (2 Cor. 5:16), but we still often look like a messed-up version of what God intended. May your Wednesday be blessed as you have the eyes to see one another as God does.

Derick didn’t feel like working that morning. He wanted to be playing.
So instead of working hard, he played around on the job, trying to get everyone’s attention to get them to play too. He tried to get his coworkers to laugh at jokes. He tried to juggle his hammer as if it were a ball. He lined up the nails in a pattern instead of hammering them into the wood.
Derick’s plan to get attention worked, only not the way he expected. His boss came over and said words Derick never wanted to hear: “You’re fired.”
Derick pleaded and said he hadn’t meant any harm, but it was no use. He’d made choices, and those choices had consequences. With a heavy heart, Derick headed to his car. How would he feed his family with no job? How would he make money to go do fun things?
Derick learned a very important lesson that day—one that he wished he had learned long before. There’s a time to work, and a time to play. And when it’s time to work, we need to do it with all our heart, as if God Himself were our boss.

When we live this way, even ordinary tasks take on eternal significance. So, whatever is in front of you today— you will have a blessed Tuesday as you do it well, do it fully, and do it for the Lord.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Hannah sat thoughtfully on the shoreline, just close enough to the ocean for the waves to reach her feet, keeping her cool on the hot summer day. As one wave splashed around her, she noticed a beautiful shell left behind. Instinctively, she grabbed the shell and turned it over in her hands. It was beautiful–an amazing tiny gift that had she not noticed might have slipped back out to sea or been trampled underfoot by one of the many people running in and out of the water.

On the next wave, Hannah noticed another shell–a different kind, but equally amazing. Soon, she had to take her hat off to hold all the shells she’d found. These tiny treasures arrived on every ocean wave, yet Hannah realized she’d never noticed or appreciated them before. Looking around her, it seemed no one else was noticing them either. Could these beautiful gifts have become so taken for granted no one even saw them anymore but rather trampled or ignored them?

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
Wishing you a blessed Monday as you take in God’s many mercies.

There is a show on the Food Network called Hungry Games. On this episode, they showed how restaurants could sell more French fries. French fries are cheap and therefore a good money maker, so, restaurants obviously want to sell as many orders of fries as possible.
However, what they found in their study might surprise you. They found that when a restaurant puts a picture of a salad on the menu their French fry sells skyrocket. Here is what they discovered; the customers unconsciously felt that since they saw the salad it was as good as ordering the salad, and as a result they could splurge and eat the tasty, fatty French fries.
Isn’t it amazing how our minds will form its own reality? This is the danger James addressed when he wrote, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves" (1:22). Many people faithfully attend church, hear the Word of God preached, but sadly, they think that that is all that is required. They unconsciously think that hearing is the same as doing.

It is not good enough for us to hear or see the truths on the “menu." We must live them out in our daily lives for us to receive their benefits and glorify God.
Have a blessed Thursday living out what you have learned from Scripture thereby demonstrating your faith through obedience and action.

There are moments in life where you can be close to where God calls you and still miss out on what He has for you.
Years ago, someone on our team got an invitation to a birthday party. When the day arrived, he typed in the address to GPS and arrived at the location. When he got to the house, he walked in and greeted a couple of people. Then he served himself some appetizers and got himself a drink. When he stepped to the backyard where the party was happening, he didn’t see the family that invited him. In fact, he didn’t recognize anyone.
Puzzled, he walked back out to the car to check the invitation, and though he was on the right street, he suddenly realized that he was at the wrong house.
Embarrassed, he walked three doors down and made it to party. When asked about how he arrived at the wrong house, he said, “I saw the balloons on the mailbox and thought I was at the right place.”
We live in a culture that says, "Follow your own truth; follow your own understanding." The problem is Our hearts are deceitful above all else. (Jeremiah 17:9-10)
Don't trust your feelings or your own understanding, instead
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight.” (Prov. 3:5-6)
Trusting God involves surrender—letting go of the need to control everything and believing that God's ways are higher and better, even when we don't fully understand them. May your Wednesday be blessed as you walk by faith, believing that God is working all things for your good, even in times of uncertainty.

A 10-year-old boy entered a café and sat down at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
“How much is the ice cream sundae?” the boy asked.
“$5.00,” replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. “How much is a dish of plain ice cream?” he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table, and the waitress was a bit impatient.
“$3.00” she said briskly. The little boy again counted the coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.
When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she saw. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were coins that totaled $2.00 – her tip.
At times, we pass judgement on others too quickly by what we see on the surface. If we had paused and tried to give more empathy, then the world would be a better place, and we would be happier people.

“For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:13
Before passing judgment on someone, God calls us to look deeper—beyond appearances, — Have a blessed Tuesday reflecting His grace, patience, and compassion in every situation thereby letting your light shine so that others may see Christ living in you.

I recently heard the story about an elderly man who could no longer care for himself and whose family made the difficult decision to put him in a nursing home. Every Sunday afternoon the man’s daughter and her family would go to see him and every Sunday this elderly man would be out waiting for their visit.
As the years passed, his mind grew weaker, and he soon had a hard time remembering his children’s names. But no matter what happened, on Sunday afternoon, he was always there waiting for his daughter and her family.
One day the daughter asked her father, “Daddy, do you know what day of the week it is?” Her father thought for a moment, “no I really don’t” he said. Well Daddy, how did you know to wait for us today?” Her father smiled and said, Oh, Honey, I wait for you every day.”

“And above all these put-on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” Col. 3:14
May your Monday be blessed as you shine God’s love into the lives of others, offering simple acts of kindness that reflect the heart of Jesus.
