My dear Trinity Methodist Church Family and Friends,
Weโve all been there. That moment when someoneโs words land like a punch. When disappointment hardens into silence. When the easiest thing in the world feels like walking away and never looking back.
And honestly? Walking away has never been easier. We block, we unfollow, we stop answering. Sometimes families go months without speaking. Friends who once shared meals now share only cold distance. Even in church, people drift to opposite sides of the room or just stop showing up.
But Jesus says something startling about all of this. He doesnโt pretend conflict doesnโt exist. He doesnโt tell us to pretend everything is fine. But He does say: Before you walk away, try another way.
And then He gives us a path, one that starts with a single, terrifying word: Go. Not post. Not complain. Not wait. Go.
This Sunday, weโll sit with that word and let it land where it needs to. Because the truth is, most of our broken relationships arenโt dangerous, theyโre just wounded. By pride. By misunderstanding. By words spoken too fast or too late. And Jesus invites us into something braver than walking away: stepping toward.
Thereโs a story coming in the sermon about a man who thought heโd found the secret to avoiding all conflict. Itโll make you smile. But what Jesus offers goes so much deeper than avoidance. He offers presence. He offers a promise that when two wounded people sit down and honestly seek peace, they are not alone.
So, hereโs the question that might follow you home this week: Is there one relationship in your life that feels stuck, or finished? And if God whispered, โBefore you walk away, take one step toward peace,โ what would that step look like?
Maybe a phone call. Maybe a simple, โCan we talk?โ Maybe three of the hardest words in any language: I was wrong. Or maybe just the quiet decision to stop letting pride make the choice for you.
Come Sunday with that question in your pocket. Come ready to hear what Jesus says about the walls we build, and the bridges He still calls us to build.
