Brothers, I’m saddened to share the passing of Brother Matthew “Matt” Schmit, a Past Grand Knight and active member of the Villa Park Council.

I had the privilege of knowing Matt while serving as District Deputy, and several of our Council members also knew him as a friend and fellow Knight.

Please keep Matt, his father Jim, and the entire Schmit family in your prayers during this difficult time. May Matt rest in the peace of Christ, and may God bring comfort and strength to all who loved him.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Knights of Columbus Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly as a member of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life. The Vatican announced Kelly’s appointment on Aug. 25.

The dicastery was created by Pope Francis in 2016 to promote, as stated in its statutes, “the apostolate of the lay faithful, the pastoral care of the family and its mission according to God’s plan and for the safeguard and support of human life.” The dicastery is also the Vatican office responsible for organizing the international World Youth Day (WYD).

The Pius Family Picnic is right around the corner, and reduced meal ticket prices are only available through Sunday, August 16! Grab your tickets after Mass this weekend and save!

🍔 Hamburger Meal — $10
Includes cole slaw, potato salad, chips, dessert & bottled water

🌭 Bratwurst Meal — $10
Includes cole slaw, potato salad, chips, dessert & bottled water

🌭 Hot Dog Meal — $4
Includes chips, dessert & bottled water

⚠️ After August 16, prices increase to $15 for Bratwurst/Hamburger meals and $5 for Hot Dog meals.

Tickets will continue to be available after weekend Masses through August 22 and in the Parish Office on weekdays through August 21.

We’ll kick things off with Mass under the Big Tent at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and a full afternoon of Pius Family fun!

Today we celebrate the birth of Blessed Michael McGivney, who's simple “yes” to God became a blessing for generations.

As a parish priest, he saw the struggles facing Catholic families and responded with faith, courage, and practical charity. From that vision grew the Knights of Columbus: a brotherhood that continues to serve the Church and those in need around the world.

May we honor his birthday by asking for the grace to recognize the opportunities God places before us and respond with the same generosity.
