What a beautiful day for our Pius Family Picnic! ☀️❤️

Yesterday, our St. Pius X family came together for a wonderful afternoon of faith, food, fellowship, and plenty of fun!

We began the day with a beautiful outdoor bilingual Mass, made even more special by the sounds of a mariachi band. From there, it was time to picnic with brats, hot dogs, and burgers, try our luck at Bingo, and enjoy time together as one parish family.

And, of course, the dunk tank was a HUGE hit! 💦 Our St. Pius X Athletic Department staff, our school principal, and even Fr. Matt himself bravely took their turns in the hot seat—and there were plenty of parishioners happy to send them for a swim!

Thank you to everyone who planned, volunteered, cooked, served, participated, and joined us. Days like this are a wonderful reminder that St. Pius X is more than a parish or a school—we are a community of faith and a family.

What a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday together!

🚨 LAST WEEKEND FOR REDUCED PIUS FAMILY PICNIC MEAL TICKETS! 🚨

The Pius Family Picnic is right around the corner, and reduced meal ticket prices are only available through Sunday, August 16! Grab your tickets after Mass this weekend and save!

🍔 Hamburger Meal — $10
Includes cole slaw, potato salad, chips, dessert & bottled water

🌭 Bratwurst Meal — $10
Includes cole slaw, potato salad, chips, dessert & bottled water

🌭 Hot Dog Meal — $4
Includes chips, dessert & bottled water

⚠️ After August 16, prices increase to $15 for Bratwurst/Hamburger meals and $5 for Hot Dog meals.

Tickets will continue to be available after weekend Masses through August 22 and in the Parish Office on weekdays through August 21.

⛪ PICNIC DAY
We’ll kick things off with Mass under the Big Tent at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and a full afternoon of Pius Family fun!

🦉 The Natural Naturalist — Lombard’s own Kim White will entertain and educate all ages with some amazing animals and natural wonders found right in our own backyards!

💦 Dunk Tank — Take your best shot at dunking some of your favorite St. Pius X Parish and School staff members!

🎒 BACKPACK BLESSING — AUGUST 15 & 16
Bring your backpack to Mass and receive a special blessing for the school year ahead! The blessing will take place after each Mass:

Saturday, August 15
⛪ 5:00 PM Mass
⛪ 7:00 PM Mass

Sunday, August 16
⛪ 8:00 AM Mass
⛪ 10:00 AM Mass

Whether you're heading into preschool, college, or anywhere in between, bring your backpack and begin the year by asking God to bless our students, teachers, families, and all those who help them learn and grow. ❤️

📖 CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD HAS RETURNED!

We’re also excited to welcome back Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) during the Sunday 10:00 AM Mass!

CLOW is a drop-in program for children ages 3 through 3rd grade attending Mass with their families. Before the Liturgy of the Word, children are called to the altar and dismissed to hear the Sunday readings and participate in a lesson presented especially for their age level.

🏠 Can’t attend? Weekly CLOW booklets are available on the brochure wall outside the Mary Room so families can continue the conversation at home.

Please note: CLOW is not offered on the second Sunday of each month, when our Children’s Choir sings at Mass.

Come celebrate with us, bring those backpacks, and begin a new school year rooted in faith and covered in prayer. 🎒🙏
