The Noticer, a fiction book - and yet feels so real - about a mysterious man named Jones who miraculously shows up and teaches a town how to heal. It’s all about perspective. We all have problems we face, struggles, fears, sadness. It’s easy to get bogged down, but sometimes eating sardines and Vienna sausage in the sand could be eating surf and turf on the beach with a change in perspective. This is a book I’d benefit from reading over and over again. It’s a quick read I’d highly recommend.

There’s a new “The Action Bible” in town! 👏 The comic-book style Bible that is so popular is illustrated by Sergio Cariello, who designed for DC Comics and Marvel Entertainment. This new edition, “The Action Bible: Faith in Action Edition”, has 230 stories of Biblical heroes. Each story has Faith in Action badges - courage, faith, Hope, love, service, trust and wisdom - to help the reader on their journey of faith. An additional element that could be a great family opportunity is a QR code for each story that provides games, devotionals, maps, prayer guides and activities.

This Bible is designed for ages 9-11 but even teens enjoy the comic-book style design. A phone for QR is not essential. It’s just an added resource that could be used under supervision.

We were challenged in the sermon yesterday to decide on one habit to start, based on who we want to become. The New Covenant Sunday School class is starting a study of the book “Good to Great in God’s Eyes” by Chip Ingram, paralleling on our sermon series of “Habits”. I thought I’d pass on the topics if you’re looking for an additional resource.

You’re welcome to join us for this study and it’s also on Right Now Media.

I can’t get enough of this curious little bear. Through Papa Bear’s retelling of the story of Elisha and Naaman (2 Kings 5:1-19), Clever Cub sees that obeying God is always good to do—even when it seems too hard! The honesty of children - and bears - is refreshing. Obeying is definitely HARD but, oh, so worth it.

These books make a great conversation starter with your littles because I bet they have some of the same feelings as Clever Cub.

Craig Groeschel’s “Winning the War In Your Mind” will be the focus of our upcoming sermon series and small group topic. The church had purchased a small number of books for your convenience. They are available for a $16 donation simply to cover the cost. Message us if you’d like us to hold one for you and you can pick it up Sunday in the Next Steps room.

August 1st, the Next Steps Resources room opens off the concourse. There will be books to check out, Next Steps information, QR codes for some highlighted books so you can easily purchase directly from a retailer for your own library or we will also have books for the current sermon series available for a donation. (We’ve already purchased these as a convenience for you and are just asking for a donation on the cost.) More info to come, but in the meantime like us on Instagram . 📚
