It is through months of prayer that we have decided to discontinue hosting Survivor Youth Camp on the island property where it has been held for the past 8 years. SYC was created to provide a place for teens across the Ark-La-Tex to enjoy the great outdoors, with adventure, and a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the past 8 years this ministry has reached thousands, raised up new leaders, and inspired everyone involved. We have been blessed by an outpouring of local churches and community support in ways we could have never imagined. It has been a blessing to many, with many more wonderful memories that will always be cherished. In the past years we have experienced many trials that would hinder the continuation of Survivor Youth Camp, but our Lord has ALWAYS provided us with a window of opportunity to keep it going as long as He wills it. In the past year we have experienced high waters, falling trees, and countless vandalism's with damages toppling $10,000+. We are confident that no man can destroy what is in God’s will to continue….however the water and trees present a safety risk that we cannot in good conscience put any teen in danger of. Efforts to move all supplies and buildings has already begun due to numerous break-ins and thefts over the past two weeks. We want to ensure everyone that while Survivor Youth Camp may be coming to an end, the spirit it has created in all of us still remains. We will always hold dear the memories of praying teens, salvations, sacrifices, and challenges that so many have faced and overcome. As leaders, our lives have been forever changed due to what we have experienced through this generation in the past 8 years. It has been said that when our Lord closes a door, He opens another. We will always be looking for new opportunities, new locations, and new ideas to reach the lost teenagers in our community, and raise them up as the respectable Christian men and woman they were meant to be. We request that you pray for those who persecute us, and attach yourself to a local body of believers today, and begin making a difference. With a closing thought, we leave you with this verse from Philippians 1: “ I thank my God every time I remember you, and in those prayers I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am confident that the God who began a good work in you will complete it at the day of Jesus’ return. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, and you all share in God’s grace with me.”
