Smith Chapel and Ebenezer United Methodist Hocking Church welcome Pastor Lyndsey Klein to their two-church charge. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Otterbein University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a specialization in leadership. She is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. She completed her Master of Divinity degree as a Kern Scholar.
She had the opportunity to travel to England, Scotland, Ireland, and South Korea during her time in seminary. She was mentored in a local multi-cultural church with services in French, Korean, Spanish, and English. Lyndsey intentionally built close friendships with international students in seminary as she has a heart for diversity. She also was mentored in spiritual formation where she received training in retreats, prayer experiences, and small groups.
One of Lyndsey’s favorite experiences was serving in the National Parks with A Christian Ministry in the National Park (ACMNP). She led teams of college students in Yosemite and the Smoky Mountains.
For the past four years, she has served as the pastor of Richland United Methodist Church in Athens, Ohio. During her time, she continued her work with international students at Ohio University through a program called Global Conversation Partners.
Lyndsey is married to Ian Klein, and they just celebrated their second wedding anniversary in May. Ian is a professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Ohio University. He is also a runner who coaches at OU and volunteers with Athletes in Action. Ian and Lyndsey look forward to enjoying the beauty of Hocking Hills together.
Lyndsey enjoys reading, writing, and attending yoga and exercise classes with her husband. Wholistic health of the mind, body, and spirit is important to her. One of her favorite pastimes is cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.
Lyndsey will be serving as the pastor of Smith Chapel and Ebenezer United Methodist Churches. She enjoys preaching and teaching. Lyndsey is passionate about helping others grow in their faith. She is excited for this new chapter and looks forward to building relationships and following the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The multi-church charge consists of two Sunday worship services, bible studies, and various short and long-term small group experiences. The Sunday worship schedule includes:
• 10 a.m. Smith Chapel UMC 35121 Smith Chapel Rd, Logan
• 11 a.m. Ebeneezer UMC 14170 OH-595, Logan
Her first Sunday will be July 2, 2023.

Smith Chapel and Ebeneezer United Methodist Churches are part of the Hocking River District of the West Ohio Conference. The mission is to equip local churches to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
