Two big announcements today: First, the Royal Rangers National Office has created a Remote Rangers program for you parents to use with your boys during this time of separation from OP SIXTY-NINE due to Century Assembly's response to the Coronavirus crisis. You can link to it at https://royalrangers.com/remote. Included are introductory videos, a devotional video, an activity, and Bible Merit and Skill Merit PDFs for you to print and discuss with your boys. These merits are the same as the merits we have at OP SIXTY-NINE, so you may have to modify the Skill Merits a tad. Merits are posted for all four age groups; most of you have only one age group, so use the appropriate one. FYI, at the Discovery Rangers level (3rd through 5th grades), they're doing the Cooking Blue Skill Merit, which all of our current boys need as it's a requirement for Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship, our subset of Royal Rangers for men and older boys. It mentions the use of a Dutch Oven in a camping environment. If you have one, set it up in the back yard for an at-home "campout." If not, use your stove. Be creative with this. They just posted Week 3, but Weeks 1 and 2 are still posted. Start with Week 1, and catch up at your own pace, but don't force it. Just do one week a night, and make sure your boy gets some exercise in between the Bible Merit and the Skill Merit. If you have an Adventure Ranger (6th through 8th Grade), the plan calls for the Bachelor Green Skill Merit. This is good for teaching your boy how to be semi-independent so he can be ready for life outside Mom and Dad's house after he graduates high school.
FYI, if you have a Ranger Kid (K-2nd Grade), your boy MIGHT have already done the material posted. Let me know if he remembers it, and I"ll get you PDFs for something different. FYI, RK material is presented quite differently than the others. Just follow the outline provided, and you'll get all the requirements taken care of.
We commanders miss the boys. We hope that you are using this time to bond with them. That's very important in the life of a boy.
