Spring brings more than warmer weather and green grass — it brings memories of the ones we love. With that in mind, we decorate their final resting place, honoring their memory with flowers, flags, and tokens of love that remind us they are never forgotten.

Originally known as Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died in service to our country. Reprinted from PBS.

Though none of the four veterans in our family lost their lives during active service, David Hart later passed from the effects of Agent Orange exposure. Today, we honor their service with flowers and our nation’s flag, remembering their sacrifices and dedication to our country.

A heartfelt thank you to JACKIE SUE ROACH HART for your generosity and dedication in keeping this tradition alive. And thank you to LOIS SHEARRER for removing the old flowers and creating the beautiful new display.

We had our annual meeting Saturday. We discussed finances, possibly moving meeting date and mowing/weed eating/spraying. After much discussion we really didn’t change anything at this time. I would also like to report we only have $850 in donations. This is less than half of what we had last year. This amount will not even come close to covering our mowing expenses for the year. I am asking for everyone that has love ones in the cemetery to please make a donation so that we can continue to keep Lewis Cemetery looking nice. No donation is too big or too small.
If you would like to mail a check you can mail to Angie Jackson 5814 Quail Meadows Dr Poplar Bluff, MO 63901 or Tara Looney 19 Wayne 305 Lodi, MO 63950 or Venmo

Hope to see everyone Saturday.
