What happens when religion opposes, prisons close in, and threats keep coming?

In Acts 5:17–42, the apostles faced jealousy, imprisonment, beatings, and persecution. Yet they refused to stop preaching Jesus. Why?

Because the gospel is unstoppable because Jesus is alive.

The same opposition they faced is often what believers face today—from the world, the flesh, and the devil. But Acts reminds us that no prison, no threat, and no power can stop what God has started.

What if the Church was known not just for what it believed, but for the power of God at work among it?

In Acts 5:12–16, we see a church marked by signs and wonders, miraculous healings, and people being added to the Lord every day. But the real miracle wasn’t the healings—it was the salvation of lost people.

This week at Vintage Church, we explored what the Bible teaches about power evangelism and discovered that God’s power is not given for our comfort or entertainment, but to point people to Jesus.

A holy, hungry, and humble church is the kind of church God delights to use.

What happens when we lose the fear of the Lord?

In Acts 5, we encounter one of the most sobering passages in the Bible—the story of Ananias and Sapphira. Their sin wasn't greed. It was hypocrisy. They wanted the reputation without the sacrifice, the appearance without the reality.

In a culture obsessed with image management and performance, God calls His people to something different: authentic faith rooted in awe, humility, and grace.

The fear of the Lord is not terror that drives us from God—it is awe that keeps us from playing games with God.

And the shortest path to a healthy fear of the Lord is the Gospel itself. At the cross we see both God's holiness toward sin and His incredible mercy toward sinners.

What happens when the gospel truly grips a people?

In Acts 4, the early church was marked by:
🔥 Bold faith
❤️ One heart and soul
🙌 Radical generosity

They understood that EVERYTHING they had belonged to God and was meant for His mission. Open hearts created open hands.
