At “The Fork”, we are made up of people of all ages from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds. We are not about what you look like, how you dress or your social or financial status. Our goal is to love and warmly accept people with the unconditional love of Christ. Our mission is to lead people to a passionate love relationship with Jesus Christ. Our worship services are relaxed with

blended music of various types. During our Sunday morning worship service, we have a nursery available for babies and Extended Session classes for toddlers through age 5. Sunday School classes are available for all age groups prior to our Sunday morning worship service. Sunday nights, we have classes and small groups for adults; a youth worship service; and classes and activities for children. On Wednesday nights, we have a praise and worship service for adults and youth called “Rejuvenation” where you can get re-charged mid-week! During the school year, we also have delicious Wednesday night suppers in our Fellowship Hall so you don’t even have to cook! Our Family Life Center is open to the public free of charge. It includes a basketball court, a game room, a walking track and a work out room. We have Upward Basketball for children each year, and adult basketball leagues play throughout the year. Locust Fork Baptist has many, many wonderful ministries available for adults, youth and children. We would love for you to get connected with us. Let us pray with you, laugh with you and cry with you. We invite you to be a part of our family.

What has being a Dad taught me about the Lord?

How good He is; how faithful He is. In so many ways I didn’t know what I was doing, but God worked in our kids lives. He is the perfect Father and several times He showed me that the standard I was requiring in our children in a certain situation, I did not hold myself to that same standard with Him. And being a dad shows how little of our kids lives we can control, and how much we just have to put in His hands and trust. We tried to raise them in the Lord and have spiritual expectations for them, but God did it, and we can only say “Thank you Lord”.

Being a dad, the love you have for your children is a different kind of love. A love that has no limits, is endless, and it can’t be measured. You love your children so much that when they make mistakes and you forgive them. You love them regardless of the wrong decisions they may make. Learning how to love like that really started to put the love that the Lord has for me in perspective.

We are God’s children and he loves us more than we could ever love another human being. He loved us so much that he allowed his son to die on the cross for our sins so that we would have an opportunity to live eternity with him. As a father myself that is very powerful. It gave me a deeper understanding of how much God loves us, his children.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
— Zephaniah 3:17

This verse anchors everything that follows. God’s joy is not distant or sentimental. It comes from a God who is present and powerful to save. In context, Israel is in a broken place, yet God’s nearness isn’t threatened by their weakness. So before it ever talks about joy, it establishes security: He is with you, and He is able to save you.

This passage is a clear picture of how God fathers His children and has laid out the building blocks for how I should be raising my girls.

One of the clearest ways I’ve seen this kind of joy is just watching my kids grow and learn new things. Like when they first rode a bike, picked up a musical instrument, or practiced their dance routines. Even more, it’s been a joy seeing them grow in their faith by memorizing Scripture, asking deep questions, and learning to build their relationship with Jesus.

Fatherhood has also shown me what it looks like to quiet with love. There are nights when they come to our room after a nightmare, or when they’re scared of a bug or nervous about a challenge they’re facing. In those moments, just holding them, reassuring them, and being there brings a calm that no words can always provide. It’s a small glimpse of how God quiets us with His love. Not by removing every fear, but by reminding us that we are not alone.

Another thing fatherhood has taught me is what delight truly means. I’ve always heard the word, but now, as a dad, I see it more clearly every day. Delight rises when I watch them read Scripture, memorize verses, or learn to pray. When I see them trust the Lord in everyday life, it fills me with a deeper joy. Seeing them fully depend on Jesus brings a kind of delight that I didn’t fully understand until now.

When I read Zephaniah 3:17 now, I don’t just see one idea. I see a full picture of the Father’s heart. He rejoices over His children with gladness. He quiets them with His love. And He delights in them simply because they belong to Him.

Being a dad has given me a small glimpse of that; joy in watching them grow, calm in being present, and delight in seeing them depend on the Lord. It makes me more thankful than ever for our Heavenly Father, who doesn’t just love His children, but rejoices, calms, and delights in them.
