Pencil: I'm sorry.

Eraser: For what?

Pencil: I'm sorry, you get hurt because of me. Whenever I make a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself and get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true, but I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this, I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong, even though one day I know I'll be gone. I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying, I will not be happy if see you sad. Reflection:
"Our Parents are just like the eraser, and we are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way they get hurt and become smaller (older and eventually pass on).

Moral:
Take care of your Parents, treat them with kindness and most importantly love them."

Glorifying Christ at All Times
Sometimes we shine brightest for Christ in our darkest moments.
November 9, 2022
Psalm 34:1-3
Today’s psalm calls us to continually exalt and magnify the Lord, regardless of the situation. As we gaze at God through His Word, our understanding of Him becomes greater, as if we’re looking through a magnifying glass. We see the wonders of His nature and deeds more clearly and can’t help but respond in praise.
To grasp this concept of magnifying the Lord, consider how Paul responded to being imprisoned in Rome (Philippians 1:12-14). Instead of complaining about the situation, he accepted it with grace, knowing that this was God’s path for him. Through it all, he kept praising and exalting Christ. Even though Paul couldn’t preach or start churches as he once did, the Lord opened up a new way to serve—prison ministry and written correspondence that eventually ended up in the New Testament.
Whatever is happening in your life—good or bad, long-term or short—you have the opportunity to magnify the Lord through it. This not only benefits you with a greater appreciation of Him, but it also encourages others who see your witness. When a believer passes through trials peacefully and praises the Lord, even unbelievers notice.

The Promises of God (by InTouch Ministries)
Resting in God's promises provides strength and hope.

2 Peter 1:1-11

God’s promises are precious and magnificent. They became ours at the moment of our salvation so we’d have everything we need for life and godliness. They not only remind us of His care and love for us but also provide hope and encouragement during difficult times.

Sometimes we’re shortsighted and think only of what the Lord can do for us in this life. We may try to claim biblical promises in hopes of getting what we want, but that’s not God’s purpose. He’s working for His glory and our long-term spiritual good, not our temporal desires.

The Lord wants us to take hold of all the promises that come with salvation—and to rely on every resource He provides for our continual growth in faith, obedience, godly character, and love. The Holy Spirit, our instructor, works powerfully in us to enlarge our trust in God through the Scriptures. He also provides the strength necessary for obedience and develops the fruit of patience as we wait for the fulfillment of God’s commitments.

As you read the Bible, look for all of God’s magnificent promises that you can claim as yours. Then count them as true, and rest in them.

Resting in God's promises provides strength and hope.

Confronting Conflict (byInTouch Ministries)
Because God is in control, we don't have to react to conflict with fear and anger.

Galatians 2:11-16

When people argue, they can say harsh words, create turmoil, and cause emotional pain. But there’s hope—our beliefs can positively influence how we respond in conflict. Consider God’s sovereignty, for example. If you believe the scriptures proclaiming God’s rule over nature (Psalm 135:6), government (Job 12:23), and mankind (Acts 17:25), then you know that nothing in heaven or on earth is hidden from Him or outside of His control.

This means our heavenly Father, who has promised to protect His children, knows when people verbally attack us. Nothing can touch us apart from His permissive will. His sovereign control also gives Him the power to work pain into something beneficial (Romans 8:28). We have hope because His will cannot be thwarted, even in bad circumstances. When we believe in the Lord’s sovereign rule, our perspective on conflict changes. Instead of responding with fear, anger, or resentment, we turn to Him for guidance.

Fighting is inevitable in our fallen world. When it’s our fault, we are to apologize; when others are responsible, we may have to confront them. But regardless of the circumstances, we’re called to forgive without exception—and we can because God is in control. As Christ’s ambassadors, the way we respond matters.

Because God is in control, we don't have to react to conflict with fear and anger.

The Power of Persistence (by InTouch Ministries)
When trials seem overwhelming, don't give up on our Lord, who will never fail you!

Hebrews 12:1-3
“I quit.” We generally say this when a relationship, job, or the like becomes so stressful that we don’t think we can continue. Sometimes these words are even spoken to God when the demands seem too great, the cost too high, or the obstacles too daunting.
But even in discouraging times, God has made a provision for our endurance. We have the witness of believers who’ve gone before us—especially the ones whose stories are recorded in Scripture. And, of course, our ultimate example is Jesus Christ. He endured the cross not only to save us but also to encourage us not to grow weary and lose heart.
Troubles abound in this sin-wracked world, but God says we’re blessed when we persevere under trials (James 1:12). In order to endure, we must rid ourselves of sin and obstacles to our spiritual progress. Then we can grow in Christlikeness and usefulness to the Lord.
When we consider giving up, we’re focusing on ourselves instead of on our Savior, who’s provided everything we need to persevere. The desire and power to keep going are from God, not from self-will and determination. Human efforts may fail us, but the Lord never will.

When trials seem overwhelming, don't give up on our Lord, who will never fail you!

Responding to Difficulty (InTouch Ministries)
Will your trials make you bitter and angry? Or will you trust God and discover the good He has for you?

Romans 5:1-5

Perhaps you read today’s verses and wondered how you could ever exalt or celebrate in your tribulations. After all, joy and gladness hardly seem fitting when you’re going through a difficult trial. But if you understand what the Lord is accomplishing through adversity and how He’s mercifully overseeing the events of your life, it’s possible to respond with gratitude and joy.

God’s goal is to develop perseverance in His children, along with proven character and, ultimately, hope. Relatively speaking, this life and its hardships won’t last long. But the glory that awaits us is eternal.

The Lord controls and sets limits on our burdens so they don’t overwhelm us. His goal is not to destroy us but to make us like His Son. And He designs the difficulty according to our areas of weakness so we’ll grow spiritually strong and lack nothing of eternal value (James 1:4).

As God matures you, the intensity of trials may seem to build. But you’ll be better able to handle them in a way that brings spiritual benefit while also honoring the Lord. Over time you’ll become more confident that He’s doing a good work in your life. Then you’ll find you can rejoice in Him and increasingly depend on His strength.

Will your trials make you bitter and angry? Or will you trust God and discover the good He has for you?

No Exceptions to God’s Love
God's love isn't based on our character or behavior; it emanates from His very nature.

Romans 5:6-9

I oftentimes preach, “God loves you, and He has a purpose for your life.” Yet whenever I do, it seems that someone in the crowd believes he or she is an exception. Sadly, people with this mindset have bought into Satan’s lie: They think they aren’t important enough to be singled out from among the billions on earth to receive a blessing. Or they listen to the Deceiver when he insists they are too weak, sinful, or scared to merit the Lord’s love.

How do I know that God thinks you are special? Jesus Christ died for you! Because of the Father’s love for us, He sent His Son to the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. We don’t deserve God’s care and protection, but thankfully, deserving isn’t the basis for divine love. God’s very nature is love, which He demonstrated through Christ’s death “while we were still sinners” (1 John 4:8; Romans 5:8). And what’s more, He gifts us with the talents and attributes needed to carry out His purposes (1 Corinthians 12:11).

The Lord loves you. He says so again and again in the Bible. Don’t take my word for it. Read His Word for yourself and see how much He cares.

God's love isn't based on our character or behavior; it emanates from His very nature.

The Need for Friendship (by InTouch Ministries)
God designed believers to live in community, and we must rely on each other in times of need.

July 22, 2022

2 Timothy 4:9-22

These days, many of us would rather rely on ourselves than on one another. It’s common for neighbors to treat each other with suspicion instead of congeniality—and that goes for church members too. Independence may be a prized attribute in our culture but not in the Bible. Nowhere in Scripture will you find the erroneous quote “God helps those who help themselves.”

The very fact that the Lord formed the church—a community of believers—reveals He did not create people for self-sufficiency or isolation. In God’s design, a close, committed biblical friendship between two believers serves to build both toward Christlikeness. Look at any of the saints in Scripture and you will find evidence of reliance upon a close friend or confidante for support. Paul, in particular, spoke freely and often of his dependence upon dear companions, and he encouraged others to form intimate partnerships as well (Philippians 2:1-2).

God’s Word tells us to love one another, bear our brothers’ burdens, and confess our sins to fellow believers (John 13:34; Galatians 6:2; James 5:16). This means we’re to give ourselves away to others and receive from them in return. God designed this mutual encouragement to result in greater holiness throughout the body of Christ.

God designed believers to live in community, and we must rely on each other in times of need.

Defeating Discouragement (by InTouch Ministries)
God's comfort is available to those who trust Him with their unmet expectations.

July 9, 2022

2 Corinthians 1:1-11

At one time or another, disappointment affects us all. But if our hopes are dashed repeatedly, we could easily sink into discouragement. That’s what happened to Paul in today’s passage. Under an onslaught of affliction, he became excessively burdened beyond his strength to endure, with the result that he eventually “despaired even of life” (2 Cor. 1:8).

Have you ever felt like that? When you’re discouraged by life’s hardships, the way out is to keep your focus on the Lord. He has higher purposes than you can see from your vantage point in the valley of despair. Paul calls Him “the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Cor. 1:3). And many times He uses His people to comfort and pray for us in our times of need.

But if we dwell solely on our disappointments, we’ll respond in sinful ways. We could blame others or even point the finger at God for allowing our trial. If we focus on what we want and don’t have, we’ll see the Lord as unfair. Anger soon follows as we lash out at others and the Lord Himself.

God’s comfort is available when we submit to our disappointments and set our hope completely on Him instead of our unmet expectations.

God's comfort is available to those who trust Him with their unmet expectations.

Developing Godly Thinking (by InTouch Ministries)
Salvation is a gift, but sanctification requires diligent effort on our part.

June 10, 2022

Philippians 4:4-9

Most of us know that at salvation, our sins are forgiven and God gives us eternal life. But much more accompanies our redemption: We receive a new nature, power over sin, and a renewed mind. However, these qualities require development, which happens through knowledge of Scripture, submission to the Spirit, and diligent effort on our part.

It’s a good idea to periodically evaluate whether our thinking, attitudes, and behavior are in line with God’s character and the truths of Scripture. Also, we should take note of what absorbs our attention. It’s not healthy to overload our mind with media reports or entertainment that doesn’t reflect God’s values. Regular exposure to such material can easily produce anxiety, discontent, and ingratitude.

The apostle Paul gave us a measuring stick to help us determine what is worthy of our attention. He said to dwell on whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise (Phil. 4:8). With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can filter our thoughts through this list.

So ask yourself, What fills my mind? and give priority to things in these categories. As your thoughts align with Christ’s, you’ll begin to recognize what is right, good, and wise—and your life will more closely reflect His.

Salvation is a gift, but sanctification requires diligent effort on our part.
