Grace Lutheran - Lockhart

Grace Lutheran - Lockhart Grace Lutheran Church in Lockhart, Texas, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Grace was organized in February 1952 by Lutheran families living in Lockhart. Our members come from not only Lockhart, but also from Austin, Dale, Maxwell, Red Rock, Lytton Springs, Kyle and surrounding areas. We worship on Sundays and midweek during the seasons of Lent and Advent, and provide other educational opportunities. We have an active chapter of the Women of the ELCA, which hosts monthly

Bible studies and other activities. Youth have regular instruction as well as opportunities for fun, fellowship and service to the community. Grace members participate in many community activities, and they engage in Christian social action through the Lockhart Ministerial Alliance and the Caldwell County Christian Ministries. Through our women’s group, we also support the Hays-Caldwell County Women’s Shelter. Although we come from many communities and have many interests, we are united by our faith in God through Jesus Christ. God calls us in grace to grow in faith and share his love. If you are not a member of another church, we invite you to join with us.

Today, as many celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we remember Saint Patrick not only for green beer or shamrocks, but for his faithful witness to Christ.

Patrick was a man shaped by hardship, once enslaved, yet transformed by God’s grace. Rather than seeking revenge, he returned to the very people who had enslaved him; bringing them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His life is a powerful reminder that God works through suffering to bring about redemption, not just for us, but through us for others.

As we walk through this Lenten season, Patrick’s story calls us to reflect: where is God calling us to forgive, to serve, and to share His love? even when it’s difficult?

Lent is a time of repentance, renewal, and return to the Lord. Like Patrick, we are called to die to ourselves and live for Christ, trusting that His mercy is greater than our past and His mission is bigger than our comfort.

May we go where He sends us, love as He has loved us, and proclaim the Good News in both word and deed.

Blessed St. Patrick’s Day.

Well… nobody came to church on Sunday.
And honestly? I’m glad.

The weather was awful, the roads were unsafe, and sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is stay home and take care of yourself. God doesn’t need us to risk our lives just to prove something.

Church isn’t a building.
God isn’t confined to pews and pulpits.
God is in our midst wherever we are; in living rooms, kitchens, hospital rooms, and cars parked in driveways waiting for the ice to melt.

So if you stayed home because it was safer, warmer, and wiser, I’m thankful you did. Caring for your body and your family is part of loving your neighbor and honoring the life God gave you.

We’ll gather again soon.
And until then, God is still with us.
Storm or sunshine.
Sanctuary or sofa.

Grace and peace, beloved.

Dear Grace Family,

As we head into the weekend, I want to briefly acknowledge the weather forecast for Central Texas. Current reports indicate the possibility of hazardous conditions, and I want to emphasize that the safety of our congregation always comes first.

Please use good judgment as you make plans for the weekend. If travel feels unsafe, I encourage you to stay home and take care of yourself and your family. There is no expectation or pressure to be present in person when weather creates a risk. Caring for the life and health God has given us is an act of faithful stewardship.

If there are any changes to our regularly scheduled activities or worship services due to the weather, we will communicate those as clearly and promptly as possible through email and Calling Post (if needed).

Please keep one another in prayer, especially those who may be more vulnerable to weather-related challenges. As always, if you need pastoral care or assistance, do not hesitate to reach out. In the event you need disaster response services, the Synod Disaster Relief Team is ready and willing to help.

Stay safe, stay warm, and know that you are held in God’s care.

In Christ,
Pastor Jared
