In John 18 verse 11 Jesus told Peter " the cup that my Father has given me, shall I not drink of it". This term "cup" is used figuratively in the New Testament to mean a Divinely given destiny and what you will have to go through to accomplish it. It is also used to mean the benefits and blessings of Salvation. (Psalm 116:13, Corinthians 10:16)
In order to fulfill your divine Destiny you will need to regularly drink from the cup of salvation (Blessings). Its not selfishness its necessity! You can't Bless others with what you dont have! You will not fulfill what you are called to do if you die prematurely from sickness! You must regularly recieve from Him strength, direction, wisdom, joy, peace, forgiveness, empowerment etc. In order to do what He has called you to do on this earth. The cup your Father has given you to do and the cup of the Blessings He has provided for you are both both cups you must be drinking from regularly to experience either! Jesus said concerning the cup "Drink ye all of it!" (Math. 26:27) He is still telling us that today! Recieve all He has provided for you so you can do all He has called you to do!
