As we end July, let's remember one more of the American saints who helped shape our nation as we celebrate America's 250th birthday.
Saint Isaac Jogues is one of the North American Martyrs, alongside seven other missionaries. He and his companions worked with the Native people of America, bringing the Catholic faith to tribes such as the Iroquois and Huron. Jogues was martyred in New York in 1646, making him one of the earliest North American martyrs.

Thank you to all who joined us for Stations of the Cross today, and thank you to Fr. Denis for presiding! A reminder that we will be hosting Stations a couple more times throughout the summer months, at 3PM on Monday August 24 and Friday September 11.

July marks America's 250th birthday, and is the perfect time to remember and honor the holy Americans who shaped our nation and its Catholic culture.
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, known as the "Lily of the Mohawks", was the first Native American to be declared a saint. She courageously gave up the support of her family and tribe in converting to Catholicism, joining the many other native Catholics in prayer, poverty, and ministry.

We continue to honor the American saints who helped shape our nation as we celebrate America's 250th birthday.
Saint John Neumann was the first male American saint, and the only American bishop to be canonized. Neumann was the bishop of Philadelphia, and is known for establishing the first diocesan school system in the nation.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, let's remember those holy men and women who helped build our nation - several of whom are honored on the walls of our American Saints mausoleums.
Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini was the first United States citizen to be canonized. Cabrini devoted her life to caring for the poor and marginalized, establishing institutions such as hospitals, schools, and orphanages.
