One of the most important aspects of child training is letting a child take on real responsibilities. Children need to see that their contribution to the running of the household is vital. Training along these lines eliminates the fighting and fussing over chores when the children get older.

This April, Gov. Bill Lee made a resolution to designate June as “Nuclear Family Month” in Tennessee—(as if we needed further confirmation that Tennessee is the bessst;)

In the resolution it states:

There is also a section that shares the statistics on fatherless families, which is so heartbreaking and sobering.

This resolution is recognizing what we all know to be true: God’s ways are perfect and good!

In honor of Nuclear Family Month, we are more determined than ever to uphold godly values and provide Bible-based resources for families who want to pursue God together. Without godly, nuclear families, there can be no communities, no civilization, and no hope for the future.

We are proud of all the amazing families that we get to hear from daily here at NGJ, and we can’t wait to see the incredible impact that y'all have on the world around you!

When my grandparents decided to homeschool their young children, it was an insane idea at the time.

"How could you teach your own children school? You aren't even a real teacher! Let the professionals handle that."

Decades later, my parents loved homeschooling so much that me and my siblings were also homeschooled.

Now, homeschooling is something that is cool. More and more families are leaning that direction because they want to spend more time with their children and have control over what they are learning.

I am so grateful my grandparents took a chance on a crazy idea for the sake of their children.

Nothing against anyone who doesn't want to homeschool...but let this be a reminder that mainstream culture shouldn't decide the lifestyle for you and your family.

No one else will be as invested in the success of your family as you are. They are not going to reap the fruits or consequences of your decisions, so don't let their opinions determine your outcome.

God gave you responsibility for your family. Build your life on His Word, and let the trends and opinions of others part around you like water around a rock.

As a third generation homeschooler, a believer in the inerrancy of scripture and follower of Jesus...I know what it's like to look a little weird.

But trust me...it's so worth it.
