UPDATE: The City of Livonia’s boil water alert remains in effect for much of the city. However, based on updated information, residents and businesses in a northwest portion of the affected area (see blue shaded area in map) are no longer advised to boil their water.

Those living in the area in red on the map cannot consume their tap water and should continue to boil water or use bottled water. Water must be brought to a boil for at least one minute and then cooled before use. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

If you have any question about your address based on the map, please continue to boil water or use bottled water.

Low pressure was reported for about 30 minutes this morning until about 9:10 a.m. A mechanical malfunction in a pressure-reducing valve resulted in low pressure situation, though there is no determination of the cause. A contractor has been contacted. This is not an issue with the Great Lakes Water Authority supplied water.

There are no restrictions on showering and washing clothes.

Once the boil water alert is lifted, notifications will also go out through local television networks, print media, radio stations, the City website, the Livonia Community page, e-mail, and Code Red text alerts.

The Kirksey Recreation Center, Livonia Libraries and the Senior Center remain open.
