We are so excited about her heart for missions! Will you continue to pray for Brigitte Chick as she begins leading her team with Appalachia Service Project this summer!

May your hands continue to do great work!

Introducing this year’s Avery County Operations Coordinator, Brigitte Chick! She’s working towards her associates in science at Schoolcraft College in Michigan. She reads, collects vinyls, and plays soccer in her free time, and her favorite snacks are Dr. Pepper and Trader Joe’s Takis.

“Wesleyan Vile-tality

A willingness to look beyond today’s acceptable practices, standards, and norms and bend the rules in order to ensure that more and more persons can be included within the Kin-dom and that all persons, no matter who they are, how they identify, whom they love, or how they live can know and experience the love of God, can know their own self-worth, and can then grow to love themselves and others.” -

Love Boldly – Saturday Morning Session

Good morning and welcome to the livestream of Love Boldly, the 2026 Michigan Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Today’s morning gathering includes worship and music, corporate business sessions, and conference programming as clergy and lay members continue the work of the Annual Conference together.

05/29/2026

What is Annual Conference?
Annual Conference is the foundational gathering of the United Methodist Church, and it’s been happening every year since the earliest days of Methodism. Think of it as the “annual meeting” of the whole Michigan UMC family.

Each year, clergy and lay delegates come together to:
Worship and pray together
Make descisions about the direction of our shared ministry
Ordain and commission new clergy
Honor those who have retired or passed on
Learn and grow in our faith

This year’s theme is LOVE BOLDLY, rooted in the Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39): loving God fully and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We’re being reminded of what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ, people known by our love for one another (John 13:34-35)

A message from Pastor Chad:

Yesterday in San Diego, two young men committed an act of violence, killing 3 people at an Islamic Center, and then died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds just a few blocks away. While I continue to be stunned by these senseless acts of violence, as a spiritual leader in this community, I do not want silence to be perceived either as complacency or complicity. As a Christian leader, I find no grounds in the teachings of Jesus that would condone such an unprovoked act. As a parent, I can't imagine the heartbreak the parents of these two young men must be experiencing.

We MUST be in prayer for the families of those who have lost loved ones. We must stand together with those who advocate for an end to violence. AND we MUST continue to love our neighbors simply because they are our neighbors. The worthiness to be loved isn't something we determine by some measurement we create. Worthiness to be loved comes by virtue of the image of God in which we are all created.

Please join me in prayer and in listening for God's call to act with Christ, for peace!
