From Pastor Rich:
Dear Bereans, Based upon the initial response to the request for nursery and children’s ministry volunteers we are unable to provide programming this week and may have to make modifications to our proposed plan for the fall.
To give some perspective; In order to provide the sustainable child care/programming we had planned for nursery through 6 years old during all three services, we would need at least 27 workers per week. To ensure workers would only serve every other week or month, we would need 54 volunteers. We currently have 16 volunteers. This leaves us with a need for more volunteers or a reduction of programming.
In the week ahead I aim to develop a new sustainable plan based upon the limited number of current volunteers. To assist in planning, I hope to send out a survey to the congregation to try to determine the needs of our parents/children in greater detail.
Please note:
- Wednesday evening children’s program will begin as scheduled on September 23rd.
In light of this development, let me take a moment on the behalf of the Berean pastors to very strongly encourage parents of small children and babies to continue or begin to attend corporate worship. While clearly seeing the tremendous value of nursery and children’s ministry and looking forward to the return to Sunday programming, the pastors greatly celebrate the presence of young children and babies in the church’s corporate gatherings. God will most assuredly use the presence of these little ones among us for His glory and for the good of His church.
In Christ,
Rich Cork
