💕 Mass for all souls day will be on Monday, November 2nd, at 8:00am. We will be praying the chaplet of St. Gertrude immediately following the mass.

🍭 The Philothea Family Ministry would like to invite you all to honor this blessed Triduum, one of prayer and celebration of All Hallowtide on Saturday, October 31 , beginning at 6:30pm following the Vigil Mass. We will celebrate All Hallow’s Eve, praying for our loved ones who have passed from this life; those that remain in Purgatory. If you and your family are looking for a safe environment for your children to play together and prepare for All Saints Day, learning about some of the blessed Saint who lived and died in Christ, please join us for this special event for All Hallow’s Eve Trunk or Treat, games, and activities. If you are interested in participating, please contact the church office as soon as possible.

🙏 Vocations week is November 1 through November 7 . The members of the St. Joseph Vocations Ministry, along with the clergy would like to remind and encourage everyone to pray for an increase in vocations especially to the priesthood and religious life. Please stop by the narthex and check out the Wooden
Vocations Board with picture prayer cards of the current seminarians in our Diocese. We invite you to take one picture card and pray in particular for that seminarian.

📚 Make up training for all lectors who were unable to attend our first training session will on Friday, November 6th, at 6:00pm in English, and 7:00pm in Spanish

🇺🇸 St. Joseph will be hosting a lunch to honor all of our Veteran’s on Saturday, November 7 , at 12:00pm in the Family Center. If you are a veteran and would like to attend, please contact the church office as soon as possible.

🥧 The 3rd Annual Parish Thanksgiving will be on Thursday, November 26 at 12:00pm in the Family Center. Sign up sheets will be available soon to sign up you and any guests you would like to bring, as well as any dishes you would like to bring and share.

💕 La misa del día de los divinientes se celebrará el lunes 2 de noviembre a las 8:00 am. Inmediatamente después de la misa, rezaremos la coronilla de Santa Gertrude.

🍭El Ministerio Familiar de Philothea les invita a honrar este bendito Triduo, un tiempo de oración y celebración de Todos los Santos, el sábado 31 de octubre a partir de las 6:30 p. m., después de la Misa de Vigilia. Celebraremos la víspera de Todos los Santos, orando por nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido y por aquellos que permanecen en el Purgatorio. 🙏Este año, la Semana de las Vocaciones se celebra del 1 al 7 de noviembre. November 1-7 is National Vocation Awareness Week! All vocations—marriage, priesthood, or the religious life—require a diligent discernment.
Here are ten ways to discern God’s calling for you:
1. Pray and Listen asking the Lord daily to show you his will.
2. Pray the Rosary asking for the intercession of Mary, Mother of priests.
3. Pray a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament regularly.
4. Attend Mass frequently (daily if possible) and receive Communion.
5. Go to Confession on a consistent basis.
6. Read Scripture and meditate on God’s Word.
7. Talk to a priest and ask for spiritual advice.
8. Contact our Vocations Director, Father Phillip Tran, at [email protected]
9. Talk to seminarians when they come home for the holidays.
10. Become involved in your parish.

Un sábado, estaba Jesús enseñando en una sinagoga. Había ahí una mujer que llevaba dieciocho años enferma por causa de un espíritu malo. Estaba encorvada y no podía enderezarse. Al verla, Jesús la llamó y le dijo: “Mujer, quedas libre de tu enfermedad”. Le impuso las manos y, al instante, la mujer se enderezó y empezó a alabar a Dios.

Pero el jefe de la sinagoga, indignado de que Jesús hubiera hecho una curación en sábado, le dijo a la gente: “Hay seis días de la semana en que se puede trabajar; vengan, pues, durante esos días a que los curen y no el sábado”.

Entonces el Señor dijo: “¡Hipócritas! ¿Acaso no desata cada uno de ustedes su buey o su burro del pesebre para llevarlo a abrevar, aunque sea sábado? Y a esta hija de Abraham, a la que Satanás tuvo atada durante dieciocho años, ¿no era bueno desatarla de esa atadura, aun en día de sábado?”

Cuando Jesús dijo esto, sus enemigos quedaron en vergüenza; en cambio, la gente se alegraba de todas las maravillas que él hacía.

Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the sabbath.
And a woman was there who for eighteen years
had been crippled by a spirit;
she was bent over, completely incapable of standing erect.
When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said,
“Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.”
He laid his hands on her,
and she at once stood up straight and glorified God.
But the leader of the synagogue,
indignant that Jesus had cured on the sabbath,
said to the crowd in reply,
“There are six days when work should be done.
Come on those days to be cured, not on the sabbath day.”
The Lord said to him in reply, “Hypocrites!
Does not each one of you on the sabbath
untie his ox or his ass from the manger
and lead it out for watering?
This daughter of Abraham,
whom Satan has bound for eighteen years now,
ought she not to have been set free on the sabbath day
from this bondage?”
When he said this, all his adversaries were humiliated;
and the whole crowd rejoiced at all the splendid deeds done by him.
