Welcome to our worship service – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Sunday was the first Sunday in the Church Year season known as the “Time of the Church.” During this season we will see how the Holy Spirit works through God’s people, including us, to make the Church expand and grow by proclaiming God’s love in Jesus Christ. Sunday’s Gospel reading was Matthew’s account of Jesus calling him, that is, Matthew, to rise and follow Him, Jesus. May God bless your worship today as you experience and remember how God has called you to rise and follow Him.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Today in the Church Year is Trinity Sunday, when we celebrate that God is one God in three Persons. However, here at Grace we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of God’s blessings to our congregation both here in Livingston and as a member of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Our readings reflect the anniversary of the church, and the Psalm emphasizes how we desire to worship in God’s house, wherever it is and wherever we are. May God bless your worship today as you worship God, longing to worship him with us in God’s house.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Happy Birthday! Today is Pentecost, traditionally considered the birthday of the Church. On this day the Holy Spirit came in a powerful and very visible way upon the apostles, and they proclaimed the Good News of Jesus in a way the people could understand. This was not the first time the Holy Spirit came, though, as the other readings tell us. However, after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us to remain and to give us faith. May God bless your worship today as the Holy Spirit strengthens your faith.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Today we are in between the celebration of Jesus’ ascension into heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Our Gospel reading is Jesus’ “High Priestly Prayer” which He prayed in the Upper Room with His disciples just before He went to the cross. In this prayer Jesus prayed for His mission, for His disciples, and for us who would come to faith through the words of the disciples. May God bless your worship today as you experience Jesus praying for you.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Our Gospel readings for the next few Sundays will be Jesus’ teaching His disciples in the Upper Room just before He went to the cross to forgive our sins. Peter was there listening to Jesus, and our second, or Epistle, reading is from his first letter. Peter wrote to give comfort and strength to his readers, including us, as we face persecution and hardship. May God bless your worship today as you take comfort and strength in God’s Word and His care for you.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Today is Good Shepherd Sunday because our Psalm for today is Psalm 23 and the Gospel reading is from John 10, the chapter that proclaims Jesus as our Good Shepherd. In our first reading, which occurred after Peter’s Pentecost sermon, we see how the Lord cared for, or shepherded, His church and made it thrive. May God bless your worship today as the Lord your God cares for and shepherds you with His Word and through His Church.

Welcome to our worship service – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! In Sunday’s second, or Epistle, reading, Peter is writing to encourage his readers who are under threat from the Romans and other religious leaders. His words of encouragement are apropos for us as well. We put our faith and our trust in the Word of God that does not change, and on the blood of Jesus Christ that forgives our sins and gives us eternal life. May God bless your worship today as you anchor your faith and your life in the Word of God and the forgiveness He gives you.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Today’s Gospel reading is the traditional account of how Jesus appeared to Thomas on the week after Easter, after Thomas missed seeing Jesus with the rest of the disciples on Easter Sunday evening. Thomas’ insistence on personally seeing Jesus was no different than the rest of the disciples insisting on seeing Jesus, and that gives us the assurance that their message to us is true and trustworthy. May God bless your worship today as you see Jesus by faith in the Word God has given you.

Welcome to our worship service today – Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Today we celebrate with joy the greatest miracle of all time. Death and Satan have ruled the world since Adam and Eve brought sin into the world. God put the punishment for all our sins on His Son, Jesus, when He went to the cross. Today, and every Sunday for that matter, we celebrate Jesus’ victory of sin, death, and Satan, by His rising from the dead. Because Jesus is alive, you and I will also live with Him, now and forever. May God bless your worship today as you experience the joy of Jesus’ resurrection. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Welcome to our worship service – Sunday was both Palm Sunday and the Sunday of the Passion. For Palm Sunday we already read the account from John’s Gospel of how Jesus entered Jerusalem to the praise of the people who were there and laid palm branches along Jesus’ way. The primary Gospel reading will be a portion of Matthew’s account of Jesus’ passion. Within that reading we will concentrate on an event that is specific to Matthew’s Gospel. May God bless your worship today as you confess your sins and experience the forgiveness Jesus offers you.
