In honor of his upcoming Bar Mitzvah on June 13, Max Dworkin chose a mitzvah project that combined his passion for fishing with helping others.

As part of the Essex County Fishing Derby at Monte Irvin Orange Park in Orange, NJ, Max taught children fishing techniques, provided hooks and bait, distributed educational materials he created, and donated fishing poles and other fishing equipment.

Through this project, Max shared his love of the outdoors while helping introduce children to the sport of fishing.

In honor of their B’nai Mitzvah last week, Maya and Drew Sodowick organized a bake sale to support pancreatic cancer research and advocacy. Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, and community members, they raised nearly $8,000.

The proceeds were donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), an organization dedicated to advancing scientific research, supporting patients and families, and advocating for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Nearly 2,000 people gathered at Temple B’nai Abraham last night to hear Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin share the story of their son, Hersh, and the lasting impact of October 7.

With remarkable honesty, humor, and humanity, Rachel and Jon spoke about Hersh’s life, the unimaginable challenges their family has faced, and their unwavering commitment to advocating for the hostages and their families. Their message was one of resilience, hope, compassion, and the importance of standing together in the face of hatred and tragedy.

We are deeply grateful to Rachel and Jon for sharing their story, and to Jordana Horn for thoughtfully moderating this meaningful conversation.
