We are sorry for not streaming the service this morning. When we arrived at the church our internet connection was not working. We restarted our modem and it appears to be working again.

Why could you not watch the service being streamed on Facebook Live this morning?

Because the service includes music that is not public domain. Until today I have received notices saying "your video is partly muted because it contains music that someone owns" (the opening song of gathering). Not a huge deal. Today is the first time the entire video was blocked. Although we have two CCLI licenses (one for streaming) I am not sure they cover this and will not contest it.

Henceforth we will not start the live stream until after the opening song of gathering. You might remember we did this for the first few months after we started using pre-recorded music. After our live stream was blocked this morning we will go back to doing that again.

Good morning, brothers and sisters! Today is the Feast of Pentecost. If you can please wear red (or pink or rose) which is the traditional color for Pentecost in Western Christianity. You can also wear green which is another traditional color for Pentecost.

We have a lot happening in our service of worship today. We will baptized three persons *and* celebrate communion. We look forward to seeing you.

Speaking of Psalm 23 here is a "rough and somewhat literal" translation by Pastor Rick with some notes on the Hebrew text. English translations of the psalm are good and reliable, although there are some details in the original that can be lost in translation.

Pastor Rick will preach from Psalm 23 this morning and the second half of his sermon will talk about the 2nd movement of the Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein. Although it's only about 5 1/2 minutes he is not going to play the piece because that would add too much time to a sermon that is already full length.

If you see this and have 5+ minutes please watch and listen. This is a very good performance by a choir and orchestra in Taiwan. The soloists and choir consistently sing selections from the Psalms in Hebrew. Begins with Psalm 23 by solost, he is joined by choir for verse 4. Then the choir (usually a second choir) begins singing Psalm 2. This is important. Then the choir (or the first choir) counters with verse 5 of Psalm 23. Then the soloist finishes the movement with verse 6.

Tomorrow morning Pastor Rick plans to preach from Isaiah 50:4-9 which is one of the lections (assigned readings) for Passion of our Lord Sunday. It's pretty straightforward except perhaps for "as one who is taught" or "one who teaches" in verse 4.
