Psalm 128
A song for the ascent to Jerusalem
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the Lord.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you live to see your children’s children—
peace be on Israel.

God wants to bless His children with a peaceful home, filled with love. He emphasizes the roles of the mother, to take loving care of her home and her family. He wants us to enjoy the blessing of raising our children in love, comfort and security. He wants the husband to walk into his home after his day of labor and feel peace and comfort knowing that his family is reaping benefits from his labor and they appreciate his dedication to them.
Unfortunately, we live in a sinful world and evil lurks around every corner seeking to steal and destroy these blessings. How much does a good father and mother love their children? When we receive them in our arms, do we not instantly feel the duty and desire to protect them, provide for them, love them with all of our hearts? We pray for them even as they are still in the womb. We want the best for them, we strive to provide all of their needs, but we cannot always protect them from the one whose only desire is to bring pain to Our Father in Heaven. But His blood was shed for us, so that, if we believe in Him and accept Him as our Savior, one day we will live in His Kingdom where sin has no place.
There will be pain. There will be sorrow. But joy comes in the morning! Lean on Him and fixate your eyes on what is above. As believers, this world is not our home and one day we will live in a world where all of His blessings will be poured upon us. Have a beautiful day and praise God. Remember, everything good comes from Him and without Him there would be nothing. Love and prayers to you and your loved ones.
